01 SS VS SRT8 Charger

Default 01 SS VS SRT8 Charger

well i'll be picking up my 01 ss this week or early next week and there is a guy around here that has the hemi srt 8 charger that i guess has 425hp. i know the ss is rated at 325hp which is a 100 hp diff, But the charger looks heavy as hell. Can an ss with full exhaust, lid, short throw hang with that?

With those mods you'll crush a stock SRT-8 no problem. Stock vs stock it's a great race with the SRT-8 having a little advantage on top end. I've seen a stock Charger SRT-8 go 12.9 at 108

Shouldn't be much of a problem for you to overwhelm that Charger.

i think i already listed th mods that my ss has but i will list em again to be sure. SLP Lid, Dynotech long tubes, y pipe, high flow cats and dynotech muffler, slp shiffter. Sorry if some off that sounds crazy but i have had 3 stangs so i'm learning alot about the SS's mods and chevy talk. what quater times do you think my car could pull with those mods.

My last stang was a 98gt with a P-1sc. it had 312hp to the wheels and 352 tq to the wheels and this ss feels a lot stronger than it did. It is a pity.

if you go from a dig, expect him to jump out a car or so...from a roll, you should put it on him by AT LEAST 3 cars...

With those mods and good tires/driving you should expect mid 12's no problem.

i came from a Vortech blown turd 96gt. i said the same thing when i sat in my bone stock SS the day i picked it up and never looked back

From a dig if you get a decent launch you will be gone.. from a fast roll (60+) they are pretty damn quick, especially when modded.

By full exhaust do you mean headers, ory, catback? If so you will go bye bye. With just a lid/catback, it should be a good race from a roll.

I think it will be close for one and only reason of ...... you are new to that particular car. Get some seat time, then I think you will take him....ASSuming he is bone stock.

From anything under a 30 roll say BYE BYE. 30 seems to be their sweet spot, so if you are at a bad rpm at 30 it may be close. Faster rolls they run good, but you have the almighty LS1.

I expect you'll be back soon saying you won by 6+ cars from a dig.

Unless the SS traps at 111mph+ with those mods its going to be very close, SS-driving dependent.

Advantage SS from a dig, too.

Trap and ET vary a lot by track, etc. I am telling you right now if you can drive it decent you WILL win if it's stock.

I have beat one with the power of a stock-motor LT1.. aka not a lot

I would imagine an SS with those mods would trap about 111....I think it will be close...but new driver is the real issue here, IMO. I think alot of people tend to over look that.
