Default 1 Scared Jaguar, Destroyed 300C, death to 350Z

I had a very interesting night. I was just cruising around when a Jaguar XK8 convertible, red, decided to fly by me. It was a dude and a chick, with the chick driving. We cruised next to each other for a while, and then the Jaguar jumped from a 30 roll. Caught up immediately and then the Jaguar backed off and turned left. Coming down Irving Park Road, i was at the intersection right next to O'Hare airport. Some idiot in a 300C rolls up on me and starts revving. Sounds completely stock. He gets the jump from the dig because I spun, but then I immediately reeled him in and proceeded to put buslengths on him up to about 90. As I cruised down Irving, I caught up with a Mercedes SL65 AMG...Beautiful car...I will post pics below...He waved at me and I gave him the thumbs up and let him creep forwards, knowing I would get destroyed if we raced.
Now for the bad part. Coming home from Harlem Irving Park Plaza, I was back on Irving Park road doing about 35 in a 30. A 350z, silver, not sure of the year, slowly crept up on me. He flew past me, and I caught up and followed him up to the intersection. After getting in front of traffic, we slowed to a 40 roll(bad idea on my part having shitty 2.73s). He gave the 3 honks and got the jump. I got back within a half a car, but it wasn't enough, by about 100, he had 2-2.5 cars on me before I slowed down and he kept going. Cool guy though, no stupid hazards or anything. Caught up with him at Irving and 25th intersection, and talked for a few seconds. He said the car was stock with drag radials. I might have gotten him from a dig. His stock manual car handed my stock auto its ***. Oh well, we exchanged thumbs up, and then I cut down a side street and looped around the block. I thought I would have hung better, did he have more mods than just tires, or are the newer 350Zs that much faster than the original? The original was a 14 second car, the newer ones are 13s i think. Oh well, time for more mods I guess. I am getting rid of this stereo ASAP, with me and the sound system in the car, my car weighs almost 3800 pounds, so I think its time to get rid of some ****. I've had enough bass for a while...Now I just wanna go fast, lol...

SL65 AMG

New 350Zs could easily take a a4 2.73 lt1 car if both were stock.

it looked really clean and new. I raced a couple old ones back when I had my B4C, they were no problem. I thought this would be a little closer, but I guess not. Oh well, I have a couple parts coming in the mail in preparation for nitrous in a few months. Next on the list after I install these parts is 3.73s, tranny cooler, and a dyno tune. Then next will be a stall converter...

Your problem was not downshifting to first gear.. you would have put some length on him if you would have. You should be smoking them

System will drop you a tenth.. noticeable difference for sure. His pull would have been about a car less.

i think i am gonna sell the system for 800 and put the money toward performance mods...dyno tune is the key here because the stupid limiter is set to 115, and that would be embarrassing to lose a street race because of a governor...

I've had enough being loud, my hair stands up when I drive with the bass at 1/3 and the volume at 27/35...I want my exhaust to set off car alarms like my truck's used to. I think a nitrous bottle would be a god replacement for the amp, lol...Should I mount the bottle in the window, or in between the rear seats? Its gonna be a while before the nitrous, my TR-6 plugs from thunder racing are on back order...Time for a lopey cam and some spray...goodbye Z

i could drop almost 200 pounds if i run about a 1/4 tank of gas and the sound system...plus i am sure leaving the windows down and the headlights on added some slight wind resistance, lol

Default Jaguar

Those XKs are slow unless its the supercharged XKR then you might have had your *** handed to you-if they know how to drive and have it in "sport mode", not sure of your mods. I personally own a 1999 XJR-4 door sedan weighs 4000 lbs with prob around 420 HP at the crank not rear. Mods I done are ported supercharger from Magnum Powers and a cooling fan on the stock liquid to air intercooler, and intake--she flies. Torque is 389 lbs--stock..1/4 mile time 13.3 at 106-my first time at the track with it and 3rd run. What a machine prb would kick my T/As *** right now plus in the SOMP she feels alot faster. Its hard going from a Jag to a T/A..but still getting used to my Trans-am.

Sorry just had to defend the XK8-they are heavy and have only 290 HP, plus it was a vert.

In a stockish LT1 your going to have a rough time beating the latest 350Z expecially with those 2.73's. They finally made that car produce the hp to at least be comparable to an LS1 not to mention the LT1 in a straight line.

well my subwoofers and amp are gone...I knew the subs and box were heavy, but god damn, so was the wiring and amp...Now when I floor it in first, I leave a nice thick burnout rather than a light chirp. I can feel the looseness of the rear end and the lack of weight back there...Definitely feels a lot quicker now...
