1.6 vtech blows haha
A buddy of mine from work has a hatchback civic. he bought it with a motorswap already done to a 1.6L DOCH 16V (i think he said it is called a B16) and other wasteful bolt ons. anyways, he starts talkin smack saying his 1.6 can smoke my ls1... well i'm sure you all know what happens next. we pull out of the drive way at work on to the highway. i pull out first and got up to about 20 mph, then waited..waited...waited, then when i heard the fart pipe doin it's thing , i go ***** to the wall and get him by like 6 lenghts at the top of third. when we stop to talk, he says it wasn't fair and that i left too soon. the only thing i can see not being fair is the fact that i got 150 horses on him! Hope you enjoied my story.

HAHAHA make it fair and go from a ricer 80mph start. Or better yet go from a dig and show him how bad it really is. Either way let him have the go, just to be able to rub it in that much more when you molly womp his ***.

Woot, nice job!
But don't always jump to conclusions. I watched this B16 at the shop here in maryland put down 520whp on a mustang dyno. He said the only problem he has is traction, rofl.
He said he took it to the track, ran 10.6 at 147mph, rofl. He said he tried every slick and drag tire he could find. He can't run any wider tires than that. Pretty impressive for a 2800 pound race weight.

that couldnt be any more incorrect. B16 are OLD tech nowadays in the Honda crowd. an LS7 swap in the honda world would be more like a K24(2.4L) bottom end witha K20(2.oL) DOHC vtec head. that setup can make 300whp NA and 600+ on boost.

I don't see a 2800 lb car with 520whp trapping 147, but whatever.
OP, good kill.

Trash talkers are always fun like that. Trash talkers in old antiquated B16 hatches doubly so.
Nice kill.
IMO you can go three ways and be decent in a Honda swap:
B20 bottom end, B16 head, and B18 intake manifold
K20 strait up
or K24 with the K20 head
Honda much like some LSX motors seems to put better heads on lower displacement engines. Like 5.3 heads on 5.7s for some performance.
But a strait B16 is old news and basicly slow by any stanhdards today. Reliable, cheap, good autoxer perhaps, but slow.
I guess he knows that now
IMO you need boost, cubes, or preferably both to really play the drag game anymore.

Giving the slower car the punch is the best.. that way there is no way they can say "wasn't ready, didn't know you were going, couldn't hear honks." Pretty well eliminates 2/3 of all ricer excuses. The ones i still haven't figured out how to get rid of are "my engine is heat soaked, my boost guage isn't boosting right, if i had my other turbo on, wrong gear"

Very nice kill! IMHO we should take the hit every once in a while. It helps make up for all the times a ricer starts the race with us 4 cars back and then zips through traffic nearly killing everyone, only to say how slow domestic cars are.
