'02 SS Vs. '08 Viper Coupe.
Hello everyone,
So tonight I get a call that a LS2 GTO wants to make a money pass on the street at our local hang out spot. Yes, surprisingly, people around here come out on week nights. This is a next to stock LS2 car, programmer, cat delete, shift kit of some kind he said. Nothing special. So we get to our meet up spot, and here comes my Unicorn, an '07 Dodge Viper Coupe. It's owned by one of the regulars, but rarely comes out. We'll get to that in a minute.
So the GTO owner wants to run heads up to see where we are at before he puts his money down. We drive to our location, and stage, and pull up to the line. We went off of his three beeps. He beeps fast and gets a jump on me, he is auto as mentioned, compared to my six speed. The GTO is a half car out, and I come back hard in second gear, and throttle him and win by a car. We get back to the spot, and he says he had to go home, but next weekend he'd be back with cash in hand to run again.
So now that he leaves, it's time to see if the Viper wants to play. That way the gentlemen with the GTO doesn't see what I have in store for him. He says he brought the car out strictly to run a supposed fast EVO. Go figure, the EVO doesn't show up, and it's just me and my buddies built 2.0L Civic. We finally convince the Viper owner it might be a good run between us, so he agrees. We both have a passenger, since I was heading home afterwards. Our other spot got blown up, so we were stuck with going from a roll since the other spot tends to have cars come up on you quick. We settle on a 40 roll, and I'm sort of okay with it, but my clutch needs adjusting, and under WOT it's having trouble going into gear. We cruise at 40, I am at the top of second. We go off of my beeps, and we are off. Second gear goes by quickly, I am a bumper up, third gear pulls harder, I am a fender up, fourth gear comes at a rapid pace and I am holding the lead. Top of fourth he comes inching back, maybe picking up a half inch every 5mph, we get into fifth gear and back off of it, shutting down at 145.
All in all, the Viper got dirted on by a fender.
I am a 347 car by the way. Built for nitrous, but currently NA and on 100% stock suspension and fuel. He said next Summer he'd be back with the Hennessey 750 package, and I told him I'd have a little something for him. (The NX kit is ready, just waiting on some fuel, and BMR to make a delivery.)

Sorry man..It was a unicorn indeed. theres no such thing as a 2007 viper...only 2003-2006 SRT10's and the upcoming 2008 viper..
Good kill, and im thinking you have atleaste 450 rwhp with stock gears or 420 rwhp with very agressive gears

It was either an '06 or an '08, maybe I can find a picture of it. I thought it was an '07. Was exempt from emissions and had a t-tag, the guy has owned it for a month.

The Viper came out to race an EVO that had called him out. The kid with the EVO never showed up, so he basically came out for nothing. I originally came out to run a GTO, and after that hung around while he went home. So it was the Viper, my buddies Civic, and me sitting around. We both asked the Viper to make a pass, and he agreed, but wanted some of me instead of the Civic. Any clearer?

Sorry..There are no Viper 2008's out racing yet...Not for another month
If your between 430-450 rwhp like I had said then it sounds like you had a VERY close run with a stock 2005-2006 SRT10 coupe. They dyno 440-450 rwhp bone stock and weigh 3440 pounds.
Since you said I was close with my 430-450 rwhp guess and your vehicle is around 3500 pounds....It makes since that your runs were so close.
the only thing that throws me off is that the bolt on GTO shouldnt have been trapping any better than 113 MAX....So barely beating him Im surprised you hung with the unicorn...then again you said the GTO gotthe jump and was also an auto..So Im kinda starting to see how this all unfolded.

Good kill! I suprised a stock 2003 Viper once. He thought he had an easy kill and gave me the jump. Then it was all over for him. We went again from an even start and I ended up with my front bumper at his rear tire. The guy was amazed that I faired so well, and thought I had a blower, lol.
