Default 02 Hawk vs 07 Shelby Gt500

Ok, so I'm in Texas somewhere heading from Louisiana to California and im cruising about 85ish and i see this newer mustang.. well, got about 2 cars back from him in the left lane (he's in the right) and i see that its a Shelby, well, i was like, whatever, we'll see what I can do. so, without much notice, we had slowed down to 70 and i was still about 2 car lengths behind him just waiting for him to do something, sure enough, he did, he punches it, i drop it from 6th to 4th and we go from 70-145.. it was about an even race, we stayed about 2 car lengths separated the whole time.. arent those Shelby's supposed to be fast???

Not when they way almost 4,000 pounds. I raced a GT500 with 2.73s in my car (6 speed) and I reeled him in and past him easily.

Yeah, but a "bout stock" LS1 should not be even with one from a roll. They are still a good amount faster than a stock LS1 car. How "bout stock" are we talking about here?

Well then I'm gonna have to blame that on the GT500 driver. A win is a win and everything, but he still should have beaten you. Good run though

that's what i was thinking. maybe he was a bad driver, because i shouldnt have won that, according to the 'specs' of the cars. but, whatever, ill take that win. lol

Hell yeah. There's not too many situations where I SHOULD beat an LS1, but if it happens I'll take it.

Nice kill.
From the sounds of it he wasn't in the right gear for that speed.

If both of you were in the correct gear that would be a really good race IMO

There is a Shelby GT500 and a Shelby GT. Big difference in how the two run, not a big difference in looks. Might have gotten beside the Shelby GT. From a roll, the GT500 shouldn't of had much problem with you - even given its porkiness.

Correct. But the weight cancels out a lot of that making for a good race with a M6 LS1
@Bob, a LS1 would have no problem with a Shelby GT from a roll from what I've experienced.

A win is a win, but they should be a tad faster than that... Even with all that weight..Maybe a driver error

dang, i wonder what weighs it down so much. it seems like a 500h.p. car wouldn't have a problem with a mid 300hp car. but yea, drivers do make a huge difference. if that guy just got that gt500 and was as bad as me when i first got my SS, that would more than explain it lol

Its possible, he should have a better power to weight ratio but much worse aerodynamics. He most likely thought he was gonna walk you and only dropped 4th instead of third, good race!!

Somethings up with this. If you only dropped into 4th at 70, he must have stayed in 5th or something. Or he wasn't really trying. I know those gt500's arent as fast as they should be, but that doesnt add up.
