Me v.s. LS2 GTO...
So i get a phone call from my buddy saying that his friend has seen my car around and is talkin crap about how slow trans ams are
I meet up with this guy and he asks if "i was the guy with the LS1" i tell him yes. He asks " are you up to date on the specs of your car?" I say uhh yea man. He says "well are you aware of the LS2 thats sitting under the hood of my car??" I laugh and say yea. He then says "well you should also be aware that i have 400hp vs your 350" So at this point i'm gettin aggravated and tell him "are you aware that my cars not stock, you sound like an assbag, and are you going to stop talking **** and race or not?"
So we line up, he does 3 honks and gets about half a car at the jump. i pull him in quick at the end of 1st, second i'm about a car ahead, 3rd i'm a little over a carlength ahead, 4th miss my gear and he catches up to my rear panel, it stays that way untill about 120ish, we shut down.
Second race same thing, he does 3 honks, gets half a car, i pull him in fast. 2nd same thing, 3rd miss shift AGAIN hes now at my door SLOWLY inching. I hold him off the rest of the way untill about 130 when i was about half a fender ahead, and we shut it down.
Conclusion: every1 made fun of the guy for talking so much ****. I'm happy with my car, pist off at my driving tonight. I figure around 350ish to my wheels and mid-high 12's.
My Mods: QTP LT's, lid, P/P TB, LS6 intake, TSP true duals dumped, TB bypass.

Nice.. but you missed 3rd twice though?
Were you both auto or manual transmission?
..and I take it his car was stock?
You are probably around 335rwhp if you don't have that car tuned..

Nice... I'm not going to lie though, those LS2's breath better up top. Past 100 he was starting to inch up on me. I think anything over 120ish and the LS2 gets the win, but there really is no need to race past 120 IMO.

Good kill. Stock vs stock I've seen an '05 GTO 6spd pull on a '00 Trans Am WS.6. It was close off the line but by 3rd gear the GTO started inching away. The LS2 GTO's when driven well are definitely stronger than a LS1 F-bod stock vs stock.

Agreed. The LS2 is just a better flowing engine. I just find it amazing how a 10yr old engine design is still running with 99% of the cars being produced nowdays, I'm not knocking the LS2 GTO. I love the interior of the GTO's but HATE the body Thats one of the reasons i decided not to look at GTO's when i was car shopping.

As for the engines you do realize an LS2 is practically the same motor as a LS1 dont you? Hell most of the parts can be swapped back and forth. Ones 346 ci and the others 364 ci, other than that they are pretty much the same damn motor. And the engine desgin is more like 40 years old, not 10.

The looks of the body of the car grow on you. I absolutely hated the f bodies in 94 when the 4th gens came out but I liked them a few years later.

Personally, I like the look of the GTOs, especially the 05-06, but the 04, as well. They look like a sleeper to me. You don't expect all of that power from such a plain looking car.

And YOU do realize that the first fourth gen year was 93, not 94. And that means they came out late in 92, not 94, right?

Whoops, I meant to put 93.
I really think if they would have marketed GTOs as a different car they wouldnt be looked down by so many. I think the "GTO" name is what kills it. People want a radical looking knock you down looking car just because the history of the name. I really think they should have called these cars Tempest and then ran the GTO off of it a few years later. Bad marketing IMO.
Its funny how these cars a extremely popular in Australia but not so much here.

But it was.
Then my dad bought a yellow one and after sitting in it for 5 seconds I was sold on the interior. I personally can't stand the fact that they did the dual exhaust out of the same side on the 04s. What the hell is the point of the dual exhaust if you do that???? BAHH!!!!
