Default 99 z28 vs 99 cobra :)

So i have a friend with a 99 cobra n him and i ran him the other day. He has 4.10 gears, header back exhaust, intake, short throw, n a diablo tune. I have slp cat back n a lid. With that said we went from a 45 roll the other day which is my best roll n prolly his to. he honked 3 times n we took off. he jumped half a car on me pretty quick but by the time i hit 3rd we where even. We shut down at about 115 n i usually have him by 1/2 a car to a car. Let me know what you guys think. thanx

I think that sounds about right...he is putting down around 29xrwhp. From a dead stop he would murder you though.

Hmm..I would have guessed he was 300+....Headers, midpipe, catback, CAI, and tune....Those would be basically the 'fix' on the 99s and then some.
Either way it wasnt' enough.

He would only murder him if he could get traction...

Yeah i think with the Longtubes he would have edged you out....but nice kill. My buddies 99 Cobra with x-pipe, mufflers, CAI, tune, and 4:10's went 12.50 at 110 if that gives you an didea he also made 306rwhp!! Once again good run man you guys seem really close ( make for a great video)......do a dig 20 roll and 40 roll????

I only say that because I had my 99 Cobra with basically the same mods. Header back means no headers. If he had headers it would be "full exhaust".

4.10s made my Cobra so easy to launch and consistant I ate LS1's lunch from a dead stop. A roll was a different story.

Nice kill. You need to get a few more bolt-ons and gears and run him again. You will beat him by more than 1/2 a car length.

I always liked the 98/99 Cobras. A buddy had one and that thing was nice. Full exhaust and it sounded badass. Too bad I don't see any of them around anymore.

Just wondering what kind of 60's did you cut in your cobra, if you had it to the track with those mods?

IF that is what he meant....my bad.......I am just so used to midpipe, catback......instead of header back.....especially since stock they aren't "headers".

When it was those mods (BBK CAI, O/R H pipe, 2.5" catback, shifter, 4.10 gears, and UD pulleys) the car 60' 2.0. I could never get it below 2.0 because of the 255 all season Firestone tires in the rear. The best ET it got was 13.1@106mph. Had I known what I know now I would have gone with a JLT CAI, Long tube headers, Electric water pump, and 4.56 gears. That should have gotten me around 12.7 on those tires. The problem with a bolt on 99 Cobra with 4.10 gears is you shift into 4th RIGHT before the 1/4th mile.

Current best 60' is 1.56 and best ET was 10.97@124mph

sounds like a drivers race all day long, good runs...its always good to have a buddy with a different car that is similar in speed. its motivation for mods!
