Default From a roll: M6 or Stalled auto?

I just put my SS3600 in recently, so now I'm wondering. For two similarly modded cars, one with an M6, and the other being my stalled A4, how should races from a roll at all different speeds go?

A properly driven manual should win.

I would go from a 40-45mph Roll. That way you can drop to 2nd and maybe have traction plus thats a sweet spot for my car and yours seems pretty similar. I think The M6 will slowly start pulling in the triple digits(mph). Hard to say. I have beat faster cars then me because they shift like a grandma.

Go on low roll... High roll vs M6 you're toast.

Hahaha, thats what I'm counting on . Too bad I've had my car 3 years now and haven't raced one person other than my dad in his CTS and kinda my ex girlfriend in her 3.1L Grand Prix .

I ran a mild cammed TA M6 with my Z28 A4. We both had all bolt ons and free mods. He had the cam and I have a PTC 3500 stall. My fastest track time was a 12.3 @ 110mph with a 1.68 60ft. He ran right about the same but his 60ft. was around 1.98 and trap speed was around 115. I beat him from a dig 2 times in a row. We went from a 45mph roll and he would walk me every time by about 1- 1 1/2 cars to about 120mph..

Thats pretty good ETs before the stall.. You can look at shaving 6-7 tenths off of your time with the stall, good tires and a proper tune.. When I first had my converter installed I had trouble with it bounching off of the rev limiter.. After a good tune that problem was fixed.

Roll racing is for sticks. Drag is for autos.... thats the way it goes.

only way you can win is if you get him between gears like 1st and 2nd so he is bogging in 2nd. but all depends on gears of both cars.

I figured with a high stall flashing on a roll would help a lot. Then again I guess with a stick theres no slipping at all. Line em up!!

I used to think that.....

Properly set up, an A4 can be just as brutal from a roll. It'll probably take more than a SS3600 to do it though. PT4400 is your best friend when it comes to roll racing!!

Advantage to the M6 though.

Perfect example..

M6 cars trap higher and "Normaly" will have a edge on a stalled auto from a roll.

The lower the roll speed the better off you will be.

from a low roll a hookin stalled car is a handfull, and most of the time a 6speed car wont hook from a 1gear hit.. but do not and i mean do not ever race from 40-45 in an auto car.. thats the worst dead spot in the world....or get a th350 with a nice sized stall and 3.42 gears and ou can run from 40 in first gear.. and it jumps out hard....an ss3600 and some good tires and it will hook good from a dig...thow some gears in her and hold on

an auto with a good stall should be able to beat an identical m6 car from any speed.

Well I know about 35-45 used to be a real bad dead spot because it wouldn't go into 1st and was below like 3500 with the stock stall, but now that I have this converter in there it isn't bad at all. It flashes to almost 4k now even at 35-45. If you get below 35 though.... O_O. I was trying to do a 30mph hit the other day for a video my friend made of my car, and my tires are completely useless in first gear... Actually they are at about 50 or 55 when you hit it now too... Anyway, I hit it as I was getting ready to go by him, and the rear end slid left, right, left, right, and then went left and just kept going left until i was at like a 30 degree angle with the road and had to let off... Needless to say I didn't accelerate very hard, but I had fun . I can't wait for some tires that will stick that power to the ground.....
