My best kill yet..,.. and I lost!
I was sitting at a light in Granite City IL. A newer convt sebring pulls up with the top down. There is one little boy in the pass seat and two in the back all about 7-12 years of age I guess. The little ones start hitting dad on the shoulder pointing at my car like they are trying to get him to race.
So I turn off the ASR and decide to put on a show for the boys. The light turns green and he actually got the tires to spin on that sebring. I pop my clutch at 3500 knowing I will go up in a blaze of smoke(showmanship).I catch up to his rear bumper and shift out of first at about 5500 and popped into second for a loud screetch. I will have to admit that the sebring was a little tougher than I thought. But I still had to feather the throttle a little to keep from passing him while maintaining a believeable show for the kids.
These kids were going apeshit! We shut down at 80 with him a car and a half in front of me. Now this made me feel pretty good. I'm sure that dad was hero for the day. He gave me a thumbs up before he turned off and the kids waved.
My first loss in the Camaro was pretty fun.

I see what you are saying. But I'd almost rather see a child strapped into a top fuel dragster than a soccer mom on her cell phone in her urban assault vehicle obliviously driving the metro streets "caring for these kids".
I think dad did a good thing here. I sure those kids will be talking about it for a while. I put on one hell of a show for 'em.

Humble is GOOD! My dad was always a mild mannered guy who would say "drive for the other guy, drive defensively" (like the commercial)! He always drove cautiously.
You reminded me of an occurance where dad and I(I was 10 or so) were driving to upstate NY together. We were on a winding country road, when something overcame him. He looked at me kind of wild-eyed, floored the accelerator, and barked AH HA HAAA!!!
The Plymouth Satellite V8 flew down the road, and we both had a thrill.
Thanks for the memory my friend!

When I was about 15, my Dad had a '95 Impala SS. It was the fastest car I had ever ridden in. He used to make 130-140 mph passes on the highway all the time, because he knew I loved it. Also, we would wash it, and to dry it off......we'd take it down the road at 120 so the water would just blow off the car. Gotta love long mountain straitaways. That's the most fun way to dry a car.

No I have state issue plates, good idea though! Nice to see some really good responses. I'll bet if I had posted it on a rice board they would have said I lost because American cars suck!

Re: My best kill yet..,.. and I lost!
Bad link! But hey thanks for calling me a liar anyway putz.
<<<<<Got killed
The weather here has been great so everyone is out driving. I have had a steady diet of F-bodies. One that took me because I left the traction control on. I can usually power thru this mistake but this dudes car was fast(2001 Z28) and my mistake was enough. Anyway, I got another run at him and he was toast. Killed a Trans AM today also while leaving the TC on but was able to overcome it. But that is not what this story is about.
I pull up to a red light next to a Chrysler Sebring convertible. In it is a man and his wife and their 3 young boys(est. age 5-8yrs old). Their top is down and my window is down. I see them checking out my car and pointing and being young boys. I here them say, "C'mon Dad, race him.....PUUUULLLLLEEEEEEZZZE....C'mon!". Then I hear dad talking his sensible responsible dad propaganda. And then I say, "C'mon dad, race me!" And I give him a wink. Well I give them a good rev and the light goes green. He hammers it and I "act" like I am trying to reel him in but he has about a half car on me. I keep the revs high but just delay each shift so it makes a lot of noise. He holds me off and wins the "race". You should have seen those boys in the back of that car going crazy.....high fives all over the place....giggling and laughing. Anyway, I got a kick out of it. I just hope pops properly educates those boys on what a fast car really is.....and that street racing is not safe.... of course!!!>>>>>
BTW, I never called you a liar. If you take the time to connect to that link you will see the time stamp....and the very very similar story above.

Great story. I think the reason I couldn't access the site goes hand in hand with the reason I've never read that story. I'm not registered there.
Sorry you don't like coincidences but this actually happened. I'm not in the habit of making up stories about me loosing.
