First ever run against new mustang GT
So while on my way home today I spot a Yellow Mustang GT behind me in traffic. This is where I pull the "lets take the long way home to see if he wants to go" thing. Now he gets behind me and when the light ahead turns red, he swings over into the lane next to me. Ahhhhh, we've got a live one here. I look over at him and I get no look back. He's got a bright yellow convert, windows up, with black racing stripes and a "4.6 H.O." sticker on the hood scoop. Younger looking kid, drving without his shirt on I start off all normal, he decided to start off a little frisky. YES!!! So at about 10mph I punch it in first. We're even after first, I've got about 5 lengths on him after second, and we won't even mention where I was after halfway through third. We pull up at the next light, I stop short on purpose to get him up next to me. I give him a wave, and he gives me a sheepish nod and won't even talk to me about his car, I know his exhaust wasn't stock for sure. He had a sharp looking car, nice sounding. This is the first time I ever raced a current mustang GT, and needless to say I was happy with the results.

Re: First ever run against new mustang GT
I hear that most GTs when stock run in the low 14s. Maybe about the same as a stock LT1. So I suppose that me putting around 10 car lengths on him at what would almost be the end of the quarter mile sounds about right. Its always just such a rush when I'm racing, and your right SouthFL, they taste much better than rice!!

Re: First ever run against new mustang GT
two things about mustangs:
1) it takes A LOT to make a mustang (other than 03 Cobra) go fast.....no CIs...
2) typicaly....mustang owners are the "RICE" of American muscle....they are all show and no go.... (ex: body kit, gauges, cat back exhaust.....yet have nothing done to the engine and think its fast.....)...
note: there are cool mustang owners....they are just few and far between.....
good kill.......little punks in slow cars are fun.....

Good kill. Gotta love setting them down. Especially when it's some hard *** young punk.

Re: First ever run against new mustang GT
i would agree that most of the GTs are pathetic
but one of the local GT owners around here is running 13.9s bone stock.............with an auto?!?
thats a good driver, with a well kept car!
still .5+ seconds behind stock fbodies though

Here in Jacksonville, when a GT is behind me, they just stay there. They won't pull up beside me with fear of getting beat down. Also, if a light turns yellow, I stop to try to get a race, and they haul *** through the light to dodge me. Either that, or they just get behind me at the light. I'm serious about this. Mustangs here are affraid of f-bodys. I must admit that I used to do the same thing when I had my stang. I was affraid of the f-bodys too. haha

Re: First ever run against new mustang GT
The setup is a little more tame now. I welded a mini one chambered flowmaster in behind each tip. It's quieter at idle and while cruising, but when at WOT, holy crap, it SCREAMS. It was waaaaaay too loud without the mufflers.

See, that's the great thing about Cleveland, people aren't scared, maybe a bit dumb, but not scared. Although I don't often street race, I have no shortage of people in lesser cars that rev, look, or show off in front of me, especially when they are going down the street in the opposite direction. I suppose I could turn around and give chase, but really, what's the point.
