I need to know what it would take to beat the 03 cobra.im not ready to spray.im talkin boltons. thanks

Considering the thing cant launch for anything, not much.

I mean, Im not talking Supra bad, but I hear they're a little hard to get out of the hole.

i have a M6.not lookin to launch either.i have 2 i see everyday.i wanna do to them what i have been doin to the GT s.

Most stock cobras only run low 13s and high 12s so a few tricks(lid,filter and cat back) and you are there.They "cobras"respond very well to mods so there are alot of quick ones out there.My car has a filter,lid macs and a translator and I have raced three of them and had no problem.I raced one from a 60 mph roll that made 460 rwhp and I had to spray it with 100 shot but I left him like he was tied to a tree.

There are alot of fast ones out there but they are few and far between

A lid, filter and Macs should get you in the mid 12s on street tires and that should be enough to take care of some of them.

Considering the thing cant launch for anything, not much.

You obviously don't know too much about '03 Cobras. I have 400rwhp that says otherwise. I have a pulley & catback sitting here next to me that will give me at least 460rwhp. Oh ya, see those nitrous times for my old Camaro in my sig? Where do you think that kit is now? Not much you say? An MTI 422 LS6 motor would do the trick. Bolt-ons aren't going to cut it.

jleews6 thanks.the only mods iv done is a borla catback and y, tsp lid holley filter.lca, hotchkis sway bars, fan switch.im a newbie.i will go cam oneday. but like i said im still under warranty. thanks for the reply

The new cobras arent ****. I love the owners that add some bolt ons and think they are unstopable. I ran into a 03 with all the bolt ons and computer work and put atleast 5 on him. He is over 460. maybe ill ask him to put a n2o kit on it so it will be fair. Hell my little 346 vs a 2 power adder car This would be a good race. But yes the cobra is quick with some mods. Just not what everyone makes them out to be

I love beating 03 cobra's with just bolt ons. I have destroyed quite a few. Power adder for Power adder its no contest

Not to mention that they have independent rear suspension. Thats not to good, but Mustangs and Fast Fords duked it out with an SS in the pages of their magazine. They got the SS at 13.32, and the Cobra at 12.87. What a differnce, for a supercharged car that blows, because that is the best they could gt it to do, and the SS was most likely no driven to its abilities since the SS is 12 second when driven in the right conditions. Maybe the stang is qiucker too, but screw Ford owners who bash us because our car isn't supercharged and 1.1 litre smaller. All in all I like th Cobra, like most of the owners, but hate i when the don't agree that the only way Ford could beat the SS was to supercharge it.

I would just throw in a TR 224 cam with 114 lobe and say its stock
Add a lid and cut out and I would think you would be able to beat one. I meet up with this really cool guy Miles (RIP) a while back
and ran his 03 with a stock A4 00 SS and got pulled by 2-3 cars from 55-100mph so I know with a cam I could of been right there with him (400rwhp)
N/A I was able to pull on z06's from a roll with just a cam and bolt ons and a stock z06 could pull a 03

I'm a big GM fan and work at a GM dealership, but I think the new Cobra is the **** performance wise. Unit 213 is right...bolt ons won't do it. What does the new Cobra weigh anyway...just curious? Oh, and all of you guys that say you've raced a few or three, etc...are you sure they were true 03 Cobras...are there really that many out there???

I raced an 03 cobra vert a while back. All I had was lid, filter, loud mouth, and nitto 555r's on the rear. It was a nose to nose race all the way thru 4th gear. I know the hard tops are much quicker, and its hard to find an 03 cobra that does'nt have a pully and cat-back. those two mods alone put the cobra @ around 435rwhp. BUY A BLOWER!!!!!!

I know that dyno numbers don't tell the whole tale of the two cars but...a buddy of mine out down 380 RWHP bone stock. Cut it how you will, that's impressive. A damn catback will put him at or near 400 RWHP. I don't know about you but that pisses me off! LOL!

What's up SNAX? It's not really a matter of which car I like better. Each one has it's positives and negatives. Motor for motor the LS1 wins hands down. That's common knowledge. I'm always defending the LS1 on Mustang boards. The '03 Cobra is badass for what it is, a blown 4.6L. It is true that Ford couldn't beat LS1's with a N/A motor. You can't deny that Ford did an amazing job with the '03 Cobra motor though. It's pretty much bullit proof. GM should've built LS1's with forged internals capable of 20+ psi of boost.

You guys who say '03 Cobras aren't **** are kidding yourselves. They aren't the fastest cars in the world, but until you drive one you have no idea.

I'll head to the track in a few weeks after I install a few mods. I'll post my 10 second timeslips. Bolt-ons will NOT get you there in an LS1. Of course nitrous and bolt-ons is a different story. It's a lame arguement saying "oh, you need two power adders".

It's very true that the IRS makes it tough to launch. There are plenty of guys cutting 1.8x-1.9 60's on F1's so it's not impossible once the technique is perfected. That IRS kicks *** around tight corners too.

I always give a thumbs up to the LS1 guys I see at the track and on the street.

an m6 ls1 should be able to edge out an 03 with a lid,catback and sticky tires.


a4 will need those mods plus a stall.add gears to either one and an ls1 should win convincingly.


keep in mind this is for a stock cobra as its obvoius what these monsters put down when modded.
