98 SS vs 95 Cobra... VERY CLOSE!!
I ran a friends 95 Cobra earlier this week, and damn was it a close run. First off some info on the cars
ME: 98 Camaro SS a4=LT's, catted y, catback, lid, dyno tune, full weight
328 rwhp 340 rwtq
HIM: 95 Cobra 5speed=B303 cam, Trickflow streetheat intake, Mac cai, ud pullies, 75mm TB, LT's, catless X, flowmasters, 4.10s, SCT tuned on dyno, about 200 pounds removed. 290 rwhp 301 rwtq
His gearing and weight reduction made the race so interesting I think. Anyways we ran from a dig. He jumped the launch very slightly but I caught him by the end of first. Going into second I was barely pulling and by the end had a 1/2 car. Held the 1/2 car till we shut down around 110-115 mph. His car did very well to hang on the top end like that, but it seems faster than average 5.0. I have mad respect for his car.
Cliffnotes: SS wins by 1/2 car from dig, the little 5.0 put up a fight!!

Stock for stock against the Lightning performance was VERY close. The L had more on the low end, but the SS had it more up top. The L was a bit more fun beleive it or not, it was awesome having a truck that could actually hang with "fast" cars, and the sound of the SC is like crack. After the mods the LS1 would destroy it though. My GT was fully built/forged with H/C and running 12 psi making almost 500 rwhp and 450 rwtq through a 5speed and 3.73's......the SS isnt that fun yet

Yes I am very curious to see how he would hold up. Like I said earlier his car is unusually strong top end compared to other 5.0 cars. The 94/95 Cobras were a little different than GT's, but it is still surprising.

With the b cam and trickflow intake I'm surprised he hasn't done a head swap yet. Until he does that and gets a little lower gearing, say 3.90's, you will WALK from him over 110.

For his mods it really is. The Bcam isnt exactly a monster and he is still on the stock heads. I have had to back him up on his numbers before cuz 5.0 guys called bs with the mods he has. I saw him run door to door with full bolt on and cammed(dont know the specs, but not huge) 97 TA also. It was from a dig too, and Im sure his weigt reduction and gears made that race. And damn the boy can drive
