I was driving my girlfriends Tiberon, 2004 V6 bone stock. Leaving the movies I run into the GT immediatly and get a quick run in, from a dig to about 65ish, he put a car on me, both of us having pretty equal launches. Right after that there's a Cobra that speeds up to get next to us and we hit a light. All 3 of us come out fairly even and go to about 80. They both put about 1.5 cars on me to about 60 and from there till we shut down, they were not pulling at all on me! Granted they both seemed stock but both still have about 60whp on the Tibby, what the hell!? I couldn't resist but to tell the Cobra owner..."That was sad!" He looked over right away and scuzzed me off, ya it was a jackass thing to say but I couldn't resist!

Oh and the GT pulled the Cobra by maybe half a car. Now i'm going to get my flame suit on before the blue bloods come in!

those Sn95 cobras are strange... my friend had one and you had to rev the **** out of it to make power.... a tibby? christ my grandma could drive a GT to beat one of those.

I feel bad for their cars if they were going all out. I raced a newer Tibby in my 98 sixxer a while back and stayed right with him. A 96-98 Cobra (300hp) shouldn't have trouble pulling away from one. And a 99-04 GT shouldn't either. Especially from a dig. My vote is on them not going all out......cuz either should have murdered you from a stop. Sometimes guys (myself included) will peddle against a car that they know isn't any kind of threat......and then it puts up a better fight than they expect.

Same thing keeps happening to me with this ******* that has a black 350Z vert in my area. 3 times now the little douche has gotten all "Fast and the Furious" in close proximity to me in my GT.........all 3 times I had my wife and kid in the car. Needless to say I won't go more than 1/4 throttle off the red light with him and he puts his **** to the floor and runs off weaving in and out of traffic in true douchbag fashion. I KNOW he's going around thinking he's spanking my GT left n right. But one day....just one day.............the wife and kid won't be in the car when he starts his ****. And I won't be using any lube when that day comes

I might believe they wern't going all out IF they hadn't been racing eachother at the same time. They lined up with eachother and were racing and I just kinda joined in, so I have no doubt that they were trying.

Anyone know how much a Tibby weights? I'm still trying to figure out how they didn't waste me.

Don't know what to tell ya. Tibbies aren't that fast. I guess I feel sorry for those guys if that's the best they were able to do.

if a slug of a 98 v6(not even split port) can stick w/ them, a 4 valve or pi gt isnt going to get pulled granted they were going all out and nothing was wrong

BS. I had 2 friends with an 04 Tiburon GT V6. One had a 6speed and the other had an auto. BOTH of those cars were dog slow. My friends auto could barely pull a stock Dodge Neon. The 6speed was a little better, but my mom's ZX5 Focus could still give it a run. The damn Tiburon only has 174 hp.Those Stangs were both huge POS's are the were'nt WOT and you thought they were.

Hmm, the tibby 0-60 is a little over 7 seconds and the 96-98 cobra's are 5.4 60 seconds. Standing 1/4 is 15.4@90 and 13.99@100 respectively. Sounds like the drivers may have been related to Helen Keller.

Haha, okay I guess you would know better than me... This one is rated at 191hp btw, and it's a 5-speed too... Look back at my post, did I ever say the Tibby was fast? No I didn't, I know it's slow but what's sad is those stangs barely beat it. Why is it that whenever there's a story of a GT showing it's true slow side, all you GT nutswingers come in and say they weren't trying or they were shitty drivers? Is there a GT out there that runs normal and has a good driver? Well according to you guys, it seems there's more Dodo birds around then good running and driven stangs.

what year tibby? I did a google search and the 2008 has 174hp according to hyundai's website. -Mark

It's a 2004, I just did a search to and only yeilded 172. I remember way back when it was introduced that it was 191, i've been subscribed to Caranddriver for years and i was almost sure it was 191. Oh well, that just make it that much worse for them...

*Disclamer* For the record, I would prefer the Mustang over the Tibby anyday.
