Default The 99 Z or 00 WS6

Who would run who here? My 99 Z28 M6 with 3.73s and not much else but a Flowmaster or my brother's 00 WS6 bone stock automatic? Just curious. We haven't ran yet because I'm still working with my drivetrain. The previous owner of my car did a number on it and I'm just getting to the point where I can diagnose and repair.

The Z28 would eat the WS6 alive. A 6 speed will beat a stock auto tranny anyday.

I disagree. From a dig, if he is a poor driver, the A4 could easily run him. However, if he is a good driver, he should win.

Let us know what happens if you race!

I agree with camaro kid .... 6 speeds require much more attention from a dig then just slamming on the gas and holding on like in an auto. Therefore, there is alot more that the driver has to do with it. I have personally f'd a few races because i got too ancy and dropped the clutch too quickly and bogged, etc.
Personally, I would put my money on the m6 z over the WS6. They're basically the same car, but you have much better gearing then his 3.23's, and if you launch good, you'll beat him no prob.

Go out and practice in the middle of nowhere, practice launching at various rpms and find a suitable launch. I don't have any suspension work done yet and I found it is best for me to bog it off the line. I know I am losing alot of time off the launch but I am not going to get anywhere spinning the tires either.

Yep. If its a really important race, you can slip the clutch (just feather it as you slam on the gas) ... this will rocket you off the line, but you will also wear/burn your clutch if you do it too much, or for too long. If you do it and you smell clutch afterwards, you did it too long or used too much clutch. Try to find a balance between bogging the car, and using too much clutch. THAT will be the best launch you can possibly get.

I do exactly what CBR said and in most races that I dont care about or have no chance of losing ill just bog the car. If its going to be a close race, or I do not want to lose, I'll give it a lil clutch.
