Thumbs up My first real race in my 01 T/A WS6 vs. a 96 bolt-on Mustang GT

My best friend owns the Mustang, he has pretty much every bolt-on you can get for it, last night we were just messing around and he asked if I wanted to do a run quick, so I said why not, its just for fun. We both knew who would win, we just wanted to have some fun. We lined up on this road that is a little bit shorter then a 1/4 mile, 3 honks fro ma dig and we went, I beat him by about 4 lengths. My car is an M6 with SLP Lid and SLP cat-back, his is a 5 spd. GT with all bolt-ons....I thought I could of done alot better, but I launched a bit high and spun a bit in the beginning though, just thought I would share my story.

My actual first race was down in Allentown, PA. I was comming back from a swap meet at Maple Grove and passed through Allentown, had 4 ppl in the car and 2 slick mounted on rims. At a light I heard a revving next to me, 2 guys in a red lifted Jeep Wrangler were revving at me in a 01 T/A WS6! I revved back and he nodded his head, the light turned green and lets just say it was bus lengths to be nice...I don't count that one though, he just liked the car and probably just wanted to see it rip.

I'm kinda surprised you didn't beat him more, but I guess full bolt ons do more than I thought. Those 2v GT's are dogs, less than 200whp stock just sucks...

Less than 200rwhp?
They make ~215rwhp stock bud.
The NPI GT's really are dogs that do make less than 200rwhp.

Well we're talking about NPI GTs (the OP raced a '96), so I imagine that's what he was getting at... and PI GTs are more like 220-230rwhp stock.

I'm well aware... The only PI GT I saw dyno was an auto and put down like 214rwhp. The guy I quoted said that 2v GT's were putting down less than 200rwhp stock.

I would of pulled on him more, but the road is pretty short, also I spun at the beginning pretty bad. Next time when we head out to a longer road we will see whats in store

Yep, he bought 373's, but hasen't put them in yet. His mod list is:

SLP Loudmouth exhaust
BBK CAI
BBK aluminum pullies
TB spacer
Eliminator chip

Soon he is getting heads for it, also some headers.

Honestly, you should have monkey-stomped him. And this is coming from somebody that used to have a '98 GT that I'd put money on being faster than his '96. I could kinda hang with LT1s, but an LS1 would have put me to shame.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. Nice kill, OP. Sounds like a little more practice is at hand, though.

Well "bud", get your facts straight before you call me out. 215 AT THE CRANK, not the wheels. So how do you figure that's a wheel number when you say your "well aware"? Must be this kinda attitude that makes these GT guys think they're so fast.

Different motor I know, but close to the same rating, a friend of mine used to have a 95 GT uhohmatic and he put down 16x on a mustang dyno with a intake and exhaust.

I think I see how your confused, the op raced a 96 GT so that's the one I was talking about naturally. Somehow your mind interpreted it to a 99-04 GT which is a different story...

They're dogs, fo'sho.

A friend of mine had a '96 GT AODE with a few things done to it.

-Full exhaust with shorties, o/r h-pipe, and flow' 40's.
-Trickflow plenium
-CAI
-3.73's

His car only put down 189rwhp and managed a 14.3 at Memphis Motorsports. After the PI swap, it put down 238rwhp, but he sold it after it killed over.

I think with a 5-speed and aggressive driving, he may have hit a 14.0 or tickled 13's.

Nice kill!
