My LS1 Trans VS Mustang GT

My LS1 Trans VS Mustang GT
Well, let me say that I normally do not street race, but every morning as I am heading to work, there's a Mustang GT (99-04) that everday passes running very fast right infront of me trying to eat the road as I am waiting at a stop sign, and the car always seems to be in a hurry...that or showing off. I must admit that this car sounds very nice, it has a nice exhaust, its silver with black racing stripes, GT, with black rims, polished lip. About two months back, we almost raced, but traffic got in the way, it was not possible. Tonight at about 10:30pm, as I am driving back to my home, I was doing the 55mph, which is the speed limit.... I look in my rearview mirror and see headlights and foglights very far away.... as those lights got closer I noticed it was a mustang.... it catches to me and then I noticed it was the morning mustang! He gets side by side with my car and hangs for about 45 seconds doing the speed limit, then accelerates and slows trying to race, I kept still for another 20 seconds at the speed limit.... then we hit it, it never was a close race, I just pull and pull til I get bus lenghts on him! I slowed down and he catches again, we hit it again and same story.... he never stayed with me, I just pulled and pulled away many lenghts from him! I slowed down to see if he wanted to chat... he comes up and gave me the thumbs up, he was so impressed with the way he got beat that he couldn't believe that my car was just bolt ons with tunning..... Even I was impressed how I just left him and just pulled away. He claimed to be a bolt on mustang GT, with headers, x pipe, no cats, emissions deleted, CAI, MAF, and also tuned. The expression he had was priceless when we stopped to chat, even told me I that I have a "nice car", hehehehehe.

Yeah, even with a fully built n/a 2v they only make around 300-330rwhp, fully built 4.6DOHC N/A will only make 380rwhp or so. It makes no sense to stay n/a with a mustang with a 4.6 in it.

The fact that you haven't seen them doesn't mean they aren't out there. Try doing a search on

A 5.0 is a stroked 4.6. He did say a fully built 4.6 which to me would include heads/cams/forged bottom end/and stroke if necessary. What you would consider streetable is up for debate. The reason a lot of people don't do N/A builds is because the 4v's love boost and its cheaper to do. I changed my mind on my combo cuz after figuring the cost vs price its cheaper to forged the bottom end and just add boost.

I know its alot cheaper, just cause im a GM guy doesnt mean i dotn have tons of friends with 5.0s and 4.6liters and blah blah. But a built 4.6liter means a built 4.6liter not a built 5.0 stroker lol. I said a built 4.6liter makes around 380rwhp and then you disagree and show me a 4.6liter with 374hp, all you did was prove me right. To fully build one of those engines n/a is hella expensive and a waste of time if you can only make 380rwhp and you put 10-15 gradn into it. A set of 4v heads is soo expensive, yes they love boost but really what car doesnt with the right setup.
