While I am more of a fan of the pushrod engine Cobras (93-95), the 4.6 versions (96-present) are quite a bit faster. I still wish Ford would've kept using the 302 since they were easier and cheaper to modify.

the 4.6s are faster by quiet a bit heres some specs

5.0 cobras

HORSEPOWER: (SAE Net) 240 @ 4,200rpm
TORQUE: 285 lbs./ft. @ 4,000 rpm
0-60 MPH: 6.3 Seconds
TOP SPEED: 140 mph
1/4 MILE: 14.50's/14.40's @ 96/97mph

very sad

4.6 cobras

Horsepower (SAE net) 305 @ 5,800 RPM
Torque - 300 @ 4,800 RPM
0-60 mph - 5.7 seconds
Avg.Quarter Mile - 13.89 seconds @ 101.6 mph
Top Speed - 152 Mph

hope that answers your question my friend

Out of the box, the later Cobra's, but then who leaves 'em stock? 5.0's are cheap to mod. I ran into a guy the other day who had a plain white LX notch, lightly tinted windows - aside from the fact he had a rollbar and massive rear tires, the twin turbo's were almost silent - talk about stealthy!

Very true. I have a lot of respect for Fox body stangs and (most) of their owners. Seems like the rice-minded car enthusiasts started flocking to the stang after 94... I've seen many a foxbod run great times. I like 'em.

5.0s = fun. 4.6s arent too bad if you have the patience and the cash but 5.0s have parts floating around everywhere. Plus they are extremely cheap to buy and work on. I would heavily research making them fast before buying one though because keeping either stock would be a total waste.

4.6 is faster, but the 5.0 has so mucher cheaper potential.
