Killed an Impreza
Called in at my local drive thru last night. It's where all the local racers (ricers... lol ) hang out.
There are some fast cars up there though a few Skylines and other Jap turbocharged machinery.
Anyhow I offered up the challenge in the way of a nice smokey burnout and some guy in a Impreza came shooting up eager to take me down a notch.
We raced from 20mph roll and buy 100+ we are talking bus lengths maybe more
He almost kept up for a about a second but no more. Easy win! (easier than I thought it might have been).
They where so pissed off they wouldn't even chat afterwards but stortmed off, lol
Long live American muscle

Not sure on spec. Think it was a 99 model year. Def had body mods, had been painted, alloys and exhaust. I'd guess a intake and a chip as minimal but may have been more.

EDIT: My bad, unless you're still in the UK. Then I guess it could be a GC8F(or G) if it was an older STI. Or even a later registration 22b, though it's doubtful

All respond well to mods though and even an older Pro Drive equiped one could fairly easily be making 280-320hp (flywheel).

I have an 06 wrx with a stg1 tune for a daily driver. It really lacks anything down low, even with the bigger 2.5L. The earlier years with the 2.0L were even worse. Against a stock LS1 fbody, I would expect to jump about a car ahead, then have the LS1 pull even by 30 and have a car to a car and a half by 80. Not really in teh same league, but not a boring car either.

22b was very limited run using the 3 door body as per the rally Group A cars of the time. Turbo Impreza's (WRX/Turbo 2000/Sti/Pro Drive) have been on sale in the UK since 1996 I think. With various amounts of HP. Lowest is 208bhp, but they also weigh some 400lb+ less than the latter US spec models.

You are in jolly olde England and if you did not come on to answer, I was going to say that they DID have the 2 door early Imprezza STis available over there, NOT just the 2.5 Rses.
In fact did they (or do they now) even offer any 2.5 engines in Subies over there??
I always thought it was 2 liters ONLY for Europe and Japan?
Having Pro Drive local does not hurt the British Scooby owners either!!

I think the new hatch style Impreza is now 2.5 and comes with 300bhp stock.
New Impreza WRX Sti:
Yeah Pro Drive is only about 25 miles away from where I live.

Not too sure about the HP, think it says 300 or near enough in the brochure I have. But that'll be PS (metric HP) and most likely corrected to DIN not SAE Net.
