Default C5 v. Maserati

First Run in years....

Got caught at light with new 2-dr Maserati with dealer plates. Look over and guy wants to play... So I turn off T/C and put in Comp Mode.

This is first real race in years with something decent.

Light turns green and I lauch perfect. Shift to 2nd and back end wiggles a bit. By 60-70 I am and easy 3 cars ahead and shut down.

He pulls up smiles, waves and takes off. To much traffic to run again so I let him go.

I thought it would be a lot closer, but oh well it was fun.

Nice kill. Quit picking on the high end GM/Fiat cars.

Nice kill! Sounds right -given the launch advantage and mods you have. If he had anything for you in terms of closing the distance (at all), it would have been after 80-85mph+ in order to make up for killer launch.

Nice kill! Do you know which one it was?

The MC12 is the one you want to run into....630hp, mid-rear engine, basically a race car for the street.

Haha, yeah I know. I was just saying it would be sweet to run one of those things.

I only saw a Maserati one time and it was the new Quattroporte (4-door). Very sharp looking car and 400hp Ferrari engine with 6 speed auto makes for a nice ride. I've never been in one, so I'll hesitate to say they're overpriced, haha. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a run in because there was traffic, but I don't think it would have gone too well for him, though. It'd be nice to say I wiped the floor with a Maserati!

We have a porche/mercedes dealership about a 1/4 mile from my work and they get all kinds of stuff in there at time. Had a Carrera for a few days. Saw a Maserati the other day, they are freaking sweet looking.

My son has an 08’ Quattroporte. My C-5 is faster off the line but that Ferrari engine likes the higher RPMs. It begins to pull my Vette on the top end somewhere above 140 ish. There is a reason the car costs so much. Its very quiet inside and all out luxury. The car also has a competition mode, but no one is going to risk blowing anything by running all out off the line. If you spent 120K++. Maybe you would, I don’t know. The paper work says 425 HP. That’s 75 flywheel more that my car (stock)
It’s not that kind of car. I’ve driven it many times. It is fast but not like the Vette fast. No I wouldn’t want one myself, I like my vette but I doubt the guy was ***** to the wall when he ran the OP. Maybe I’m wrong who really cares any way. I was thinking about this because some a-hole in a car that looked just like a toaster box pulled up along side of me this morning revved his engine and took off. He had no cars in front of him, and I had a pick-em-up truck in front of me. I guess in his mind he counts that as a win. No offence to the OP I was just thinking about this when I read the posting.

Just so you know, it was the 2-dr and he wanted to run more than I. Also it had dealer plates and he was driving like he rented it.

No offense taken.

Was it this one?

http://www.maseratiamerica.com/car.a...ec=GranTurismo

Rated 405hp or 433hp depending on if it's the S or not, but it looks freakin badass. I'd drive that car any day of the week.

Yep it looked just like that, but I did not see an S on the rear, however I really wasn't looking at his rear much.

WTF??!!! As fun as that would be, it did make me throw up a little in the back of my throat, especially wondering how much money this guy has to just not care at all.
