Talking 02 WS.6 vs 2003 Kawasaki Ninja 250

I was cruising around yesterday, and my friend pulled up in his 2003 Kawasaki Ninja 250. He's had for about 2 months, and it's his first bike. He had just been talking to some of his new "bike friends" and one of them told him that he it would be a pretty even contest to race me (stock 02 ws6). He came over and started acting pretty cocky, saying things such as:

"Hey man, are you gonna race me or not?"
"Listen man, I'd SMOKE you in the 1/16th of a mile,"
"I should beat you in the 1/4th."
"So what, are you afraid you're gonna lose?"

After a while, I finally agreed

So we get out, and do a roll race from about 35mph first. I totally annihilate him... We pull up to a another stoplight, and he gets the jump (I'd accidentally left my Traction Control on), but I pull like crazy and absolutely destroy him. After some more humiliation, we pull up to a gas station. He's very angry now... Here are some of his funniest phrases:

"I never said I'd beat you."
"Stop being so cocky."
"I SMOKED you off the line."

And my personal favorite:

"My bike only has a 250cc, and your car has a 5.7... That's not even fair, and I did pretty well for having such a small engine. Listen man, you should race my friend, he's got an R1. (I laughed and said no way, then he continued.) Why not? He's only got a 1000cc engine, that's not even fair because you've got a 5.7, that's way bigger. Why don't you race him?" (He was absolutely serious...)

Now, one of his bike friends is calling me out... He's got a 400cc, and I don't know much about it. All I know is that it is an 80s crotch rocket, and that it's not in the best shape. Do you think I will stand a chance?

Thanks

Why do you call him your friend?

The 250 is a mid-high 14 second bike.
The 400 is a mid 15 second bike depending on what it is and how good of shape its in.

That guy is a TARD... Ninja 250s with a PROFESSIONAL rider are high 14/low 15s bikes. And they top out ~95mph IIRC. Absolutely no contest. And an 80s 400cc bike won't be much of a challenge either.

I know a few people that had 05-07 250's and had them up to 120-125mph.

Indicated or actual? Cuz I was under the impression that they couldn't get over 100mph. I had an '03 SV650 which is QUITE a bit faster than a Ninja 250, and it was done at ~130mph. I don't know how a bike with 1/4 the horsepower could go close to as fast.

Well I was just driving along in the Vette at indicated 118 and they both caught up to me, but they couldn't get up enough speed to go around me so....

Apparently the speedometer reads ~10% high... I can't buy a Ninja 250 going 130mph. Or even 120. I traded with my buddy and I rode his Ninja 250 while he rode my SV650, and I had to double-take and check if the clutch was all the way out it was so slow. The rpms were going up, but it didn't feel like I was going anywhere

Definitely... I'm SO glad I didn't get a 250 (or even 500) Ninja. I kinda wish I had gotten a CBR600 F4i, but I couldn't deal with a slow bike.

Tell him to stick to losing to Harleys or the bike gets confiscated by friends that care about him.

Okay, the guy came by today. He had been lying to me... The bike is an 02 zx6r. I got to ride on the back... Holy hell... That thing was unbelievably fast. I knew it would be fast, but not that fast. I'd ridden on my friend's 250cc ninja before, but it was nothing compared to this. It felt like I was on a roller coaster. After I rode on the zx6r, I declined the race.

Slow bikes Geez guys....Why are we talking about them?

I had to ride a Suzuki GS500 one time. Notice I said one time. I got it up to like 120ish but it took forever and I was tucked and had a tailwind. What a terd.

I wouldnt mind having a kawi 250 ninja those things get hella mpg.

a 250 2 stroke dirt bike would have been a much much better race, even a 4 stroke 400

If you are stock one of the newer 600-650cc will be able to take you. When my car was 440rwhp I was about even from a 60 roll, when I threw on the 150 shot it was no contest. They are around 11 sec 1/4 mile with a good rider.
