My Mach vs 1967 GT 500 vert
This is all Ford but pretty interesting. You guys will enjoy it cause another Ford went down. Allright I'm coming home on the interstate after picking up my Mach from the shop. Just had my 4.10's installed along with lowering springs, upper and lower control arms, 31 spline axles and an Eaton diff. Since the 4.10's are in and i didn't have my predator my speedometer was off. I was following my girl home, she was in her Tribute. I was on the cell with her trying to figure out how bad my speedo was off, when out of nowhere a real 1967 GT 500 vert comes in the rearview. All of a sudden he does the fly by at about 90, that 428 sounded awsome. My girl knows me well and goes "I saw that, I know you wanna, just meet me at home" Baby it's on. I punch the Mach at about 70, with the new gears it downshifts to third and pulls like crazy. I know I shouldn't have but I stay on the throttle and full throttle shift into OD. I reel him in and pull up next to him. We are doing about 90 now and he hits it. He jumps out to about a 1/2 car lead before I react. I floor it downshifts and goes I pass him quickly and start pulling lengths to at app 130 I got about 4 lenghts on him then my speedo burys at 150+ which I know is not right probably around 140 amnd he just gives up. I know GT 500's are not top speed flyers but I handed him his ***. Felt good smokin that rich looking guy in that $300,000 car. Technology is cool.

wow...thats pretty cool to run into one of those out on the street...nice kill but even though they are worth big money I'm sure it cost nowhere near that to build the car

A real (numbers matching) 1968 Shelby GT500 vert will easily fetch six figures! If it's a Concours elite type car (which this one obviously wasn't), it would bring over a million $'s at auction.

haha and that car was just a prototype that was supposed to be destroyed but was stolen before it could be destroyed. it was recovered later and now sits in a museum. i think it would be worth quite a bit lol.

I know my Mustangs pretty well but I got to admit I don't know the shelbys from that era. I know it looked like the 67'-68' style and I know that they came with 428's other than that I am not sure. The guy had a semi-tude after I beat him and as I waved he didn't give me a second look. It could have been a clone. It was red though and nice.

Correct me if I am wrong but I was under the impression that 428CJs were top end crazy..........an automatic Mach 1 with 4.10s.......not so much. Good story but you did not beat a true GT 500 vert. More than likely a clone with a 302 or something close.
