Default LS1 WS6 vs. Big Bad 89 Golf VR6

Refer to: https://ls1tech.com/forums/street-racing-kill-stories/926144-96-gt-04-gto-vs-ls1-ws6.html

My buddy made thsi guy out to be a tool but he didn't run his mouth around me. Just said his oil over fill was costing him "50HP easy".

I have BALD 315's, so I babied it out of the hole till half way through first. Half way through second my SES came on due to bad o2 sensor making all passenger cylinders random misfire. When I post the video you'll see it take my car a few seconds longer than it should to hit 100mph. (high rpm + misfires probably due to that) Not trying to make excuses that's just the skinny on the car. It's running good but not 100%.

The car was quick FOR WHAT IT WAS, but was still **** slow and got pulled bad.

Sooo the race:

1st Gear (0-40): Baby it to 15-20mph...then romp on it spinning a bit but pulling. Solid car through that slooow first gear.

2nd Gear (40-80): Shifts hard to second and I really start pulling to about 5-6 cars. SES light came on around...45-55? Car started to feel like it was getting held back?

3rd Gear (80-110): Pulled more and let off.

CLIFFS: VR6 kid gets pulled by a bus or two. Wasn't AS slow as I thought BUT read my issues above. Either way, my car running 100% or not, I won. No excuses but "man that 50HP would have come in handy". So not such a big douchebag. I expected excuses galore.

He even said to his buddy "man all I heard was screeech BWAHHHH"

That is all. I have video and here are some pics. You'll have to wait on the video since I have to go to the high school with the G/F. She was taping BTW.

G/F took these on the fly.

EDIT: Please correct me if I am wrong about o2's or whatever but the other side went bad last year causing BAD misfires and got a new one and fixed it. There seems to be dead spots in my acceleration(not because of the auto but...it's hard to explain...tune maybe? I am untuned) I also haven't done the seasonal tune up yet!

The SES light/ bad O2's will not cause a random misfire. My SES light comes on and off all thr time.

What could cause the misfires? Because when I changed the 02 last time they went away. So did the code for it?

you need a tune, as i do to on mine, third is a dead spot were its probably way to rich so that spot needs to be leaned out a little with it being a longer gear. i could be wrong.

Think o2 have no effect wideopen but can sure mess up car at part throttle. Buddy had shot o2s and it was horrible to drive around town. We took a back one and swapped it to the front. The backs don't do anything the fronts are the important ones.

You can get random misfire from cam mod. And think buddy did get some misfire or knock from his shot o2s. But can't remember if it set codes for random misfire or codes for bad 02. The scantool showed the o2 was messing up from direct observation of it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beyholder. That said its FUGLY! I would rather have a stock fourth gen then a fast vw or honda any day of the week. I can hardly remember vw ever making a car I really liked. They made a few with porche that weren't too bad.

Those 944 cars were the worst ever!
Now that said, I have a soft spot in my heart for a silver MKIV GTi lowered on black rims...
