00ss VS 04mach 1
Well me and a friend were in my car leaving the parking lot of the local video store when we heard a v8 rumble flying by and saw a tail end of a mach 1. so we pull out and gave chase. we went down a highway and a couple of local roads before there was an open road and a low cop area. the first run was at a light, it changed faster than we both expected and i got a slight jump and he dumped it a little to fast and spun. we both let off and went to the next light, but we went from about a 20 roll we both nailed at the same time and we were even through 1st until he shifted then i caught 2nd and was about 3/4 of a car ahead and top of 3rd i was about 1 1/2 cars ahead.
he pulled next to us at the next light and acused us of hitting the nitrous, and i told him all throttle no bottle.the light changed we pulled into a parking lot and he said he had off road X-pipe,dynomax race mufflers, tune, cold air,4:11's very good race, nice guy, always wanted to race a mach but never found one that would go...

Yeah, the rev limiter is either 6,800 or 7,000rpm on the 5spd Machs (forged crankshaft)... the A4 Machs (cast crankshaft) get the same crappy 6,000rpm limiter as the GTs

How so? Yea, i'd be close til to hit 3rd and 4th gear speeds. Those cars have weak *** top ends. I use to drive an 03 everyday.

I wouldn't go that far... with those mods, the Mach is probably around 290rwhp. Combine that with the superior 1st and 2nd gear ratios, and the axle-ratio advantage, I would have expected the Mach to hang right with the OP till 90-100mph. But like I said, anything can happen on the street, so good kill OP.

Slightly steeper gearing isn't gonna save the Mach despite how they try to use it as some sort of trump card.

I'm sure the OP's car is running quite well, but I don't know about 340rwhp+ well. Maybe. And for the record, it's not "slightly" better gearing... it's actually a pretty significant difference. Add a 4.10 axle ratio to that, and it becomes even more significant. I'm aware of your disdain for Mustangs, but that Mach is still a SOLID 12s car with any sort of driver. I am not saying he should have won, but he still should have been right with him through 2nd gear IMO.
