Default 02 SS vs. 06/07 GT

Ran a 06 or 07 GT a few days ago.

My car; 02 SS with mods in sig. on BFG Drag Radials and no nitrous.

His car; 06 or 07 GT with a Hellion turbo kit and full bolt-ons on street tires

We went from a dig 3 times with the same results every time. I would jump him hard out of the hole and put 4 to 5 lengths on him till I shut it down at 130. In his defense he was spinning pretty bad. I was running all motor, no spray. Not sure how much boost he was running. I didn't even know the car had a turbo on it until after we had done run. This was the first time I had ever met the guy or seen his car as we are from different towns. Maybe next time he will put a decent tire on his car.

Yea, I would have figured he would have wanted to go from a roll being he was on street tires but he wanted to go from a dig every time. I let him honk us off and choose what kind of race we were going to run being it was his home turf.

Nice kills. All the power in the world doesn't mean a thing if you can't hook up. I'll never understand why people making that kind of power drive around on street tires. Nittos last just as long and may suck for a drag radial, but they're still about 20x better than street tires.

Nice runs OP.
I agree with Pewterscreaminmach. Why the hell would anyone with more than 350rwhp drive on anything less than Nitto's?

Then keep your "FUN" and don't bitch like a little girl when you get your *** handed to you after a race because you're only running "Street tires".

OP, awesome kill! Don't listen to people and roll race your automatic F-body. **** all that junk, use the dig to your advantage!

Yeah, my Nittos are just fine in the rain. I've never had a problem with them.

I guess its not just rain, its larger bodies of standing water. The rubber compound on a Nitto or other DR will actually grip the tarmac well regardless of if its wet or not. What it won't do as well is shift the water out of the way, the tread pattern and dept are too limited, so grip yes, but much higher chance of aqua plaining.

ive had to deal with the traction issues for months now on street tires cause theres not a d/r for a 20 in rim till now. i just ordered a set of 305/20 nitto d/r lets see how bad they are in the rain lol

I'm sure it's easier to hydroplane with the drag radials, but you just have to play it smart and slow down when it's raining. There's no reason to need to fly all around in the rain anyway.

good kill! next time turn the spray on, a power adder to power adder race would've been a even worse *** raping for the stang. decent times for a cam only car
