Default SRT8 jeeps VS Z/28 camaro

First off what power and torque numbers do the SRT8 Jeeps put down in stock trim?
reason for asking (this was a while back on my way to AZ with the car) is this, i was driving with my wife and some spare parts in the trunk(factory cats, section of stock y-pipe, stock exhaust manifolds) plus luggage to Tucson AZ. by way of I-30 and it turns into I-10 well just before Odessa Texas about 30 miles or so i come up on this jeep and i see that it is the SRT8 version well i was traveling 80 and he matches my speed as i was passing so i went to 85 and slowly pulled in front and we went back and fourth like this for about 12 miles or so. long story short we get to a stretch of highway that is empty and he again pulles next to me and matches speed then accelerates in front of me in a hurry and lets off, he does this twice. well i figured he wanted to play so i slowed to about 62 MPH he matches and we both hit it like we knew the other was going to and take off almost at the same time i think he had a slight jump on me but wasent very noticable. here we are both flying down the highway and he is right off my pass. rear quarter panel till ABOUT 115 120 and then i start to pull hard on him and walk away. once this happened i let out and he flew past me and ended up turning off in Odessa. i was pretty surprised by this whats yalls take?

No they don't. It only takes a tune/intake and decent wx, but they run mid to low 13s around 102 stock.

And they're not to impressive on the roll. Very surprised he hung w/ you that well. Had to be tuned at a minimum.

There's one that goes to no problem race way and his bone stock went 12.98 @ 106mph. Then he sprayed it with a 200 shot and the damn thing went 11.7x @ 11Xmph. Pretty damn suprising if you ask me!!

The jeeps are strong. 0-60 in about 4.9 stock. Here's a 1/4 mile race vs a BMW 335 (starts at 30 seconds in):

My boss has one, and we ran when I was basically stock. We went from a stop, and it was insane how fast that thing took off. I couldnt catch back up.

Its even crazier when I rode in that thing, and a big *** jeep handled just as well as my car. That thing defys physics.

im convinced mopar leaves alot on the table with the tune from the factory. i have a feeling once the aftermarket picks up and more tuning options become available there will be some modern hemis with some nice numbers/times

4.9 0-60 in the Jeep SRT-8 is a nice Edmunds figure quoting the manufacturer. 0-60 times mean nothing from a roll anyway.

Try mid 4s with a nice brake torque, 103-105mph trap speeds, low 13s under any conditions. 3:73 gears and AWD make for a solid 1.8 60ft.

The one you ran was probably Diablo tuned, my guess is the 400rwhp range and I've heard over 108mph trap speeds.

Nice run, I wonder if he hit 4th and knew he was going to get killed?

Good info. FYI it wasn't me in the vid, just one I found online. Both vehicles appear to be stock to me in that particular vid. Never can be sure.

those things are nice from a dig but i've seen 13.5's or so at the local track for stock ones. i think the normal 60's are 1.6-1.8's? makes me want to slash their tires!

Ha ha, they don't get 17 on the hwy... I don't even hit 17 and they get worse mileage than me. I was getting 16.8 on a full cruise at 75 for the whole tank and thats w/ a tune....

well i was being considerate to them. i will never be impressed by how fast any truck or suv can be made or car for that matter if they get horrible gas mileage from the factory.

...It's an SUV, it's not going to get good gas milage. Even normal SUV's, not the fast kind, get terrible gas mileage, so why would a performance SUV ever possibly be able to get decent MPG? The whole, "They shouldn't make performance SUV's and trucks" argument is stupid. Who the hell cares if they get bad mileage? Some people want to be able to haul their boat, a trailer, etc with their vehicle, and there's no reason they shouldn't be able to run 12's once they take the trailer off.

Nobody cares if you're impressed by them or not.

fast is still fast no matter how much gas you burn.
