Default Finally silenced the critics!

After months of smack talk i finally got the chance silence the critics! I catch all kinds of hell for my car being a non ram air and a4. One of my co workers has a 98 Stang with 4.6, CAI, Larger TB w/spacer, shorties, no cats, and a Bassani exhaust. I didn't know it would be that bad! He didn't want to go from a dig so i gave him the hit and we went from a 40mph. Three honks, he jumped a little early and still got raped! I honestly don't think he was beside me for more than a sec and before i hit 80 he was back about 3 car lengths! He did a fly by and didn't want to say much afterwards.

He claims it will much different when he has LT's. I know there are some quick stangs out there, but is that version really that slow? His car is pampered and only has 68,000 to my 128,000 (pampered also).

LoL!!!! Way to shut that fellow up!

Damn these Non-PI fellows are crawling out of the woodworks. I just posted this earlier today.

"A friend of mine had a red '96 GT with an AODE slushbox in the tunnel. With an off road H-pipe, Flow 40's, CAI, plenium, and 3.73's, he got a 14.3 and dynoed at 189rwhp."

Honestly, he ought not waste his time on those long tubes. If he wants a decent upgrade, some stock PI heads or some Patriot PIs would wake it up. That same car went from 189 to 238rwhp with the newer heads and some headers. They really are that slow, man...

you still have him if he gets LTs. You have somewhere around 75hp over him now. I say you get some LTs and a stall, and he will be straight up embarrassed.

Your car don't have an ugly *** ram-air hood = much better looking. Grats on the win.

I've seen a supercharged non-PI GT making like 280 rwhp. Bottm line is that they suck without the newer heads/intake.

Good kill!

I had a similar situation. I had a friend with a stock 98 GT Auto, and I had a stock 98 Trans Am 6speed. He swore it would be a good race even after I told him what kind of power my car made.

It was BRUTAL from a 35 mph roll (his choice), and he swore it would be better from a dig. It was WAY worse.

Good kill. It won't get much better when/if he installs LT's. He'd be better off with heads/intake.

Or at the very least the intake... I had a '98 GT with the 3.27s (only late '98s had them) that I did the PI intake/cams on, and it was a HUGE difference. Just the intake itself gives ~25rwhp increase peak, and ~35rwhp increase at redline. The cams gave ~10rwhp increase peak, and ~15rwhp increase at redline. So it was a completely different car up top

Default Estimate

so with the mods he has done, how much power would you say he's making? I thought it would be a good race because i really haven't done any serious power adders other than my catback.

You wish the intake gave 25-35rwhp..lmao

Like RaggedRides said earlier...my friend jumped from 189rwhp to 238rwhp.

After adding PI heads/cams/intake and shorty headers. Which is right on par with a 99-04 auto GT with bolt ons.

Um... I know what I'm talking about. Your friend gained right around 50rwhp from those mods, and shorty headers are worth like 5rwhp. Basically a worthless mod. The heads themselves are worth 10-15rwhp, the cams are worth around 10rwhp, and the intake accounts for the largest jump, of 20-25rwhp. There's not a set number of course, but those are fairly-accurate figures. If you'd like to educate yourself on the subject, do a little research on modulardepot.com.

Well I'm sorry you don't agree with the numbers I provided, but that's pretty much how it works out.

Edit: Just one I found after a couple minutes of looking... 25rwhp and 24rwtq gained at 5650rpm. Not bad for an OEM part.

Oh I'm not saying that the GTs are anything special (NPI or PI), but they aren't quite as big of turds as some people would like to make them out to be. And I'm sure you were talking specifically about the GTs, and not the Mach/Cobra of course
