5.0 Slow!!!!!! alright so i got a stock 1998 six speed TransAm convertible WS-9 and the other day there was a 5.0 mustang that was talking trash. He had a cobra intake manifold a shifer and some other work done that i can't remember now. well i was trying to race him however with the amount of trash he was talking he got me worried that he might actually win. I wanted to go off the line but he said 35 mile roll start i figured i'd let him have his way. So we get on the highway and were right next to each other i let him honk three time so he can get the better start. As soon as the third honk went down i'm already gaining and i let off cause i thought he wasn't raceing, as soon as i see him catching up i punch it and i'm gone again. The second race i give him a head start. The deal was he starts to go and when there is one car lenght of space between us i go... well un fair as it sounded i had him by at least 9 lenghts with my bone stock car with a bad clutch before i let off ...

All V8 equipped Firebirds have the WS9 RPO code. Then, W66 for a Formula, or Y82 for a TA. I too found that comment funny, though. Nothing special at all about it..... Or, an aftermarket hood, w/ an aftermarket badge.

i've never gotten into mustangs so i didn't know that. I know the old police 5.0's were said to be fast so i fiured this would be too especially with a cobra intake manifold, and with the amount of trash he was talking i honestly thought i would realy loose. But like a said i did not know it had that much less HP i thought they were fast cars cause they sounded fast.

Most old 5.0s don't even pull 200rwhp without a few bolt-ons. There's plenty fast ones out there, just rare to run into one.

Good kill. People like that give me the motivatioin to keep modding even though alot of newer cars are sick fast and quickly gettnig out of my reach. There's always gonna be that kid with the stock 5.0 or stock LT1 that thinks he's got the fastest **** around, lol.
