Default A good run with a GT500 vert...

I was just heading home tonight, stopped at a light and noticed a newer mustang vert pull up next to me. I really didnt pay too much attention since most of the ones I see are either V6s or stock GTs and dont offer too much of a race.

The light turned green and he pulled in front a bit and I saw the Cobra on the fender...that got me excited!

I pulled up closer to him as we were coming up to a red both at about 30mph waiting for it to turn, as soon as it did we both took off! We started off right next to each other but to my surprise I started to creep forward and before I got to 4th gear his front bumper was at the back of my rear tires.

He followed me onto the freeway and shot over to the far left lane and waited for me to line up next to him. We took off at about 45mph with me in 2nd and again were pretty even but as I kept going I began to creep forward. We shut down at about 120mph with me about a car length ahead.

We got beside each other and he said "Thats a fast car!". I told him he had a nice car there and pulled off the freeway at my exit. He followed me off the freeway and we talked while waiting at the light. He asked my mods I said basically a lid and catback with some suspension stuff. He said "This car is bone stock, its only got 2k miles, not even broken in yet" I said its a really nice car and we thanked each other for the compliments and took off. I forgot to ask if it was an auto or manual.

I was really surprised by the outcome. I was sure he would beat me, I was just curious by how much. I think he wasnt quite used to the car yet or something because I know they are fast...oh well anything can happen on the street.

Good Kill.

Just to beat everyone else to it. I'm kidding they won't be. Thats BS! He wasn't racing! It wasn't a GT500! He couldn't drive! There is no way your car beat him you're lieing! That should cover most of it. LMAO!!

Thanks for clearing it up early

The part about him not being able to drive could very well be true...I think the car had alot more than that...and if not then thats pretty sad.

Thanks!

Do you happen to know what kind of times they are said to run on the quarter? I was thinking low to mid 12s. Thats why I think he either wasnt used to it or just couldnt drive.

Good run, most are stock now but once they start really modding those motors that are going to be insane

The average driver will put them in the mid to high 12's. I'm not sure what the best bone stock is, but I think MM&FF got one to run 12.2 @ 117mph. If I had to guess as to what happened in this case I'd say that he was shifting easy and early since he said that the motor wasn't broken in.

Good run.

That is really hard to believe unless it was an M5 or M6 whatever they are. If it was an auto it should've pulled you seeing as they trap over 110mph to your maybe 106.. Good kill though man, sounds like alot of fun though.

Low 13's high 12's witha great driver. Those cars are over priced mechanical slugs (for the money they are slow)!!! Sexy looking but sexy doesn't win races. Good kill.

Being a Vert it is going to be heavier than a coupe. Good kill though man.

There is a Vert here in town that a douchebag of a guy drives. I've always tried getting him to run me but he won't....
