got beat by a stock c6 ls3 z51
Went out to the local thursday night meet tonight, and ran into a guy with a stock 08 c6 z51 (ls3 6.2L) with a K&N filter and a tune. Raced the guy 3 times from a 20. All three runs were the same. Even untill 3rd gear then he pulled 1 1/2 cars. stopped at 130 with him still pulling slightly. First real race after the H/C, and i have to say that it was a little disheartening. Guy said the car dynoed 418 rwhp, so i guess the weight difference was the key. Was pretty cool to see a car run that well basically stock.
Well, on tuesday I am putting on the MTs getting the NA tuned tweeked and also the N2O tune (125 shot hoping for around 550rwhp).

+1. I basically got beat by a better engineered car.
Its all good. I beat up on a couple of cammed fbodys while I was there (black ones). Also met a few fellow ls1tech board members.
The c6 z51 owner said that he had raced an 06 z06 from a 20 punch a month ago, and only lost by a fender. I believe him, his car ran STRONG. What do yall think? Is it possible that the ls3 z51 with a tune/filter ca hang with a bone stock z06?

Being the C6 had an air filter and tune, it isn't stock. A tune wakes up the C6, LS2 or LS3. Hell, I gained .2 and 4 mph in the 1/8th going from the stock to tune to aftermarket.

Just curious as I have almost identical numbers as yours and when I raced a friend of mine in his 08 C6, the results were about the same as yours (tho he was completely stock down to the paper filter). This particular day I was running full weight with backseats and spare, but I was thinking an M6 with similar mods would have been a better matchup for him from a roll.

He only picked up 8rwhp with K&N and tune. The meaning of Stock is subjective. To me it means that no significant bolt-ons (i.e. no headers ext.) Regardless, I don't think it would have mattered whether or not he had the paper filter and stock tune. The pull was slight, but it was consistent.

Are you Auto or M6? What gearing do you have?
