Default One fast truck

I was heading home from A2 down M-14 and on the on ramp there was this truck in front of me that sounded pretty sweet. It was a chevy S-10, so I'm pacing him as we head down the freeway and as traffic opened up I pull along side him. We took off about 65-70 I jumped him and pulled maybe 1/2 a car and to my surpise he's staying with me. We shut down about 130 and I might of got another 1/2 car on him. a couple miles down the road we get next to eachother gave eachother a thumps up and my buddy asked him what he had in that thing. He said he dropped a 350 with a 6 speed in it. VERY NICE. He had a chick in the car with him and I was with my buddy and his girlfriend. It's was a pretty fun and unexpected race.

This truck that I'm buying is very loud so it's obvious that stuff has been done to it. It's quick but not quite fast. Mid 14s is what I've been told.

Dude, not to be an ***....... but why not buy an S-10 with a V8 conversion in it already if that's what you want? There's quite a few S-10's out there that have had small block Chevy's dropped in them already that are fairly affordable. I even saw one with a 454 BBC in it. If you want a fast S-10 I wouldn't go with V6 unless it's turbocharged like the Syclone. 14's really aren't very fast or quick FWIW.

Well see I've thought about that and I know 14's aren't too great but they can still beat Mustangs, older 80's Camaro's and TA's, and a lot of Rice. Besides the big thing is 4.3's have a huge aftermarket and they aren't as nose heavy as V8's so I will get better traction since my trucks weight is more evenly distributed and not mostly in the front. Also since the v6 weights a lil less than a v8 I will save that extra weight. Besides I think the truck looks badass.

i think the aluminum block/heads would compensate alot of the weight, but i dunno

A SBC 350-406 won't add all that much weight over the V6 IMO, and there are many manufacturers that make aluminum heads for small blocks that would save on weight. If you think there's a big aftermarket for the 4.3, think of the aftermarket for small block chevy's! Probably the biggest aftermarket there is. I've seen several small block V8 S-10's that have mild motor work that will run 11's..... big difference from a 14, but if you like the truck that's all that counts. Still IMO a 383-406 SBC in the S-10 is the way to go.

I went for a ride in an S10 in high school (11 years ago - getting old). I couldn't have been anymore surprised. It ran mid 10's at around 130. Gotta watch some of them...big time sleepers.

I'm glad you still put a 1/2 car on him Rok. Nice work.

yeah saying I was surpised is an understatement. When I took off I expected to see him in my rearview fairly quickly, that didn't happen, definetly a good race.
