Default H/C Z28 vs. 403whp Neon

My good friend used to have a CLEAN white third gen Camaro, but now he has a Stage 4 turbo S R T 4. I couldn't tell you all his mods, but I know he has a downpipe and a cutout in addition to the stage 4 stuff. His car made 403/444 on a dynojet recently, and my car should be right around 400whp through my unlocked stall.

We both know I'd win from a dig, so we found an open stretch of highway in Mexico the other day. He asked for a 50 roll, so we slowed to 50 and I honked it off. It was a short race but we went through a gear and before he shifted I was a half car ahead. As soon as he shifted he fell back a good bit (maybe another half- 3/4's of a car?) and I shut down because we were running out of room.

We're trying to go out on the highway with a camera and get a few runs on video soon. My win really surprised me because we are making pretty equal power and his car is significantly lighter. But I guess anything can happen on the street.

Edit: Fixed his tq numbers.

Is he break-boosting? You should give him the hit and that will be a truer show of the run HP to HP since he just won't have the torque hit like you will.

Sounds fun!

Yeah, maybe his dyno numbers were a little off too. Who knows? I wasn't pulling him very hard when he wasn't shifting, but I was definitely pulling him a little. He's not the quickest shifter, so that definitely hurt him too.

And I'm almost 100% sure that he wasn't brake boosting.

Maybe that Dynojet dyno he rolled to 403whp was a little soft. I've seen cars do 320whp on a Mustang dyno that SWORE they'd eclipsed 400whp on a Dynojet.

Wow. 400whp it is then. Nice kill on a 2800lb skittle with a ton of power! And FWIW, I would never do business with AGP again. I bought a wastegate from them a few years back that was busted out of the box. Worst customer service ever. I don't remember the dude who answered the phones but he had to be related to the owner. He was an unapologetic *****.

i wouldnt to be happy. you won a very short race. but the skittle should win. he has you beat in the hp to weight easily.

It was long enough to see who would pull. He asked for a 50 roll, which is the best speed for him. He's in his powerband. Even if I got the jump, don't you think he should have made up some ground at SOME point? He never did.

We will get some longer races on video.

To everone else...thanks.

I've see first hand what 50 trim skittles will do. They are nasty as hell.

just letting you know. in all regards. he should walk you like noones business.
you weigh a good 400+ lbs more than him im guessing. similar hp but with a huge advantage in hp/weight. unless he is running like 4:10 gears and just has Absolutely no top end he should win.

i mean good kill. but they need alot less power to run the same speeds as us.

just like we need less power to outrun a Cobra or a car heavier than us.

Nice kill. Regardless of the numbers on paper, you pulled the win and that's what counts in my book. You ALSO would kill him from a dig, so that's pretty sweet knowing if he ever wins and starts bragging to your buddies, you can just ask him for a dig race.
