Default 1999 Z28 Vs 07 Sti

99 Z28 A4-SLP lid, black wing filter, flowmaster cat back, speed density hp tune

07 WRX STI, On 19 pounds intake exhaust other mods unknown, but ran 13.1 before all the work was done

Me and my buddy where driving around looking for some action when we came up on 2 WRX's. we got on the parkway and one of them pulls next to me. So we went from a 50 and he put a car on me up to 100 then we backed off. Second run was from about 40 and he put about a car on me. Third run we went from a dig. I put a car on him out of the hole up to 80 then i pulled him a half a car on top of that. Around 110 he started catching up. We got up to about 145 and he was right next to me. Around 165 i was a fender ahead. Great race best ive ever had.

Surprised he got you off the line as well. I guess he didn't launch very hard which seems like a shame in an AWD car. Good runs.

On the way back from the pavilions here in AZ, I ran into about 2 STis and 1 modded WRX.

This was before I had any real mods... just exhaust, lid, couple of free mods.

Versus 06 STi: 65 roll
Had him by two cars up to 135ish

Versus 05 STi: 70 roll
Probably had him by a car up to 120ish (I think he had more mods)

And some poor WRX that got his **** handed to him.

All this from a slushbox auto with NO stall

STis don't do so well top end from my experience I guess... and I wouldn't have expected them to either.

Like any other boosted ride, an STi should do just fine on the top end if the engine's been allowed to breathe. Obviously even more so with a larger turbo. And great races BTW! Sounds like fun. Curious to know how the hec the scoobie driver managed to fuxor the launch from a dig though. Even in my bone stock Subaru wagon I can come out of the gates like a supercar...and it's an auto!

All depends if your racing a 1.4 60 ft fbody or a 2.1 60 ft fbody.

In a street race, I'd still take my money on the AWD out of the hole every time. True story.

He must have really sucked at launching. Trigger on here's 07 STI stone stock with 30 day tags went 13.2x with a 1.7 60'

bad *** races man... on the rolls it would of helped if you were manual but then on the launch it helped you because you were auto. so hand and hand i guess. haha good runs! im also surprised that his sti was with you at 165. pretty insane.
