Need Rotors - Any advise?
Guys/Gals,
Gonna be replacing my rotors as they are warped and singing a little. Anyone recommend a good economical (price) drilled and slotted rotor? Also, anyone ever buy the rotors off this LS1tech Sponsor and how did their rotors work out (see thread below)? Let me know looking to order some soon.

I've had Baer Eradispeeds for quite some time now (like 3 years or so), which are arguably some of the nicer drilled/slotted rotors out there. My car is pretty much street duty only, and has become more of a nice weather only car at this point.
When I put my car up for the winter, I found a crack starting in one of the rear rotors. Needless to say, I wasn't pleased, and I'll be replacing them with non-drilled rotors.
I'd steer clear of drilling and slotting, especially if they are el-cheapos.

yea, Brembo blanks are the best bet for a street duty car. The drilled rotors usually start cracking and they dont offer much of a performance upgrade over blank rotors (always a debated topic). Drilled/slotted rotors do look better though..

I've been told that drilled and slotted rotors usually crack because they are designed to stay warm, and not repeatedly heat up and cool down very fast which would usually cause rotor warpage on blanks.
Has anyone just used slotted rotors and not drilled? I'm doing an LT1 rear disc swap on my truck and would love to just find a decent set.

My vote goes either for Brembo blank, or Ate "elliptical" slotted. Either version is an OE fit.
Even though the Ate star shaped elliptical slot appears "gay", they actually work quite well, and Ate makes good brake products (even though they're on the slightly high price as of late).

ws6store, has the cheapest F/R package I've seen. That's only if you still have lt1 front brakes, because they don't offer a ls1 front/lt1 rear package.
Shipping kinda kills the deal, but these things are heavy, and not too many offer free shipping, especially at that price (for example the ebay link above)

I got the zinc coated slotted only rotors from the ws6store and they have been fine but next time it will be brembo blanks. The slotted/drilled rotors look cool but they just decrease surface area. I heard that drilled rotors were to give gas a place to escape but unless you are using asbestos pads from the 1960s gassing isn't a problem. I'm sure there is debate on that subject but the article said just look at nascar cars
(they are just slotted).

The best budget rotors by far (in my opinion and experience on several cars) are the Centric E-coated rotors. They are heavy duty and are coated on all non-friction surfaces so they always look great behind the wheels. Fantastic product stood up to the axxis ultimate pad abuse on the 1996 vette, civic, and Acura TL. Not one issue.

LOL! Talk about a fashion statement for rotors. That guy has every design under the sun machined in his rotors. Gotta love the Z-Rated ones with big ole Z's cut in the rotor. And the Zero model rotor doesn't have any metal left with all the holes he drilled in it. Yeah, he's done his homework on those performance pieces.
