Default BMR tunnel brace is the worst POS ever made

No lie.

I bought a bunch of stuff on Thunder's 20% discount or whatever it was on BMR parts a few months ago. So I threw in a tunnel brace. What a waste of money.

Sure, it clears the exhaust. It also hangs down under the car about 3" lower than the stock brace.

Just for reference, my FLP longtubes did not hang down that far.

I drag this motherf'er across every speed bump, and my car is stock height.

You can see it hanging down below the car when you're walking more than about 10-15 feet away from it.

I'm ripping that thing off this weekend and throwing it in the trash.

Get a lakewood if you want a brace, it goes ABOVE the exhaust and has an integrated DSL! I had one on my old Camaro, it was perfect.

I have all BMR rear susp. parts for 4 yrs now and never have had one problem. I opted to not get one of the tunnel braces since it really doesnt help all that much anyway.

I surely wouldn't call it a POS. The design works well. Very strong, and it DID make a difference, in my Convertible.

Granted it does hang pretty low.

It's definitely a 'decent' piece, if it didn't hang down so low. I have tons of BMR parts on my new and old SS, and never had a problem. This thing is just sad though. The horrible crunch over every speed bump (3 of them at my work!) is not worth it! Imagine if I lowered my car, I'd get stuck!

Well, I'm lowered with it.Although I don't get stuck, it is the piece that hits before anything else does, and the bottom is scraped off. Worked well for me in clearing the y-pipe and R/T torque arm.

Well, I'm not lowered at all, but I can tell you that my exhaust tends to drag over speed bumps and the FLP mounts pretty darn high. I have the Lakewood DSL and would definitely recommend getting that over the BMR tunnel brace since it sits a lot higher and provides you with driveshaft protection.

Curse the person who came up with the evil speed bump !!!

LOL. It's in Branchburg, between Somerville, Flemington, and Hillsborough. A little bit in the boonies, but it's getting more and more developed everyday.
