Default What do I need to replace? I feel every tiny bump in the road

Like I said, I feel every bump big time and also the back end is unstable when hitting mild bumps.............even though I live in Michigan and mild is probably not mild to some of you.

I don't know much about these things, what should I replace? It's a 2000 Firebird and all suspension is stock

First, shocks... well made shocks.

Second, tyre pressure and tyre wear.

Third, check all of the control arm bushings, ball-joints, tie-rod and tie-rod ends, and possibly exhaust mount.

And as always, be on top of your alignment.

Ok thanks, when I replace the shocks should I replace the springs as well? Or does that go without saying? I think I'll start there. I figured that was the case, I have over 110,000 miles on the originals lol

i had the same problems you did, and after i replaced the shocks, everything went away

since it is a stiffer suspension not made to be a luxry ride i still feel bumps and such, but my car responds to them a lot better

i only replaced the shocks, and not the springs

How much am I looking at with install? I will have to take it somewhere because I don't have the tools or space to do it myself. Around $500-$800 or so?

So if I walk into Belle Tire, Midas, etc the shocks they sell are garbage? Because I'm not sure they will even put on shocks that I buy from somewhere else.

I would just stay away from the monroes and common brands like that. I just installed 4 KYB GR2's and I love them. Car feels like new again and I got all 4 for $160. The KYB GR2's are only maybe a little better than the stockers were brand new but they are alot more affordable than Konis or Bilsteins.

part number or application for the jeep bump stops, I need to replace mine, and that would be cheaper than the gm parts.

There above and behind the rear brake rotors mounted to the bottom center of the wheel well just directly above the axel...they have two 13mm bolts holding each one. Took me about 20 mins to change them (I had to do it with the wheels still on) I'll have 2 look up the part number. If u search on the forum there's a post about it ... I thought I had blown shocks and bad springs caus I would always hear my axel hit my frame ... I chaged my shocks n springs (and lowered it) and still had the problem mabe worse when I had passengers.. I looked under my car and **** there were no bump stops just the brackets where they were supposed to be. I put the jeep ES ones in and now I feel like I can realy do some bo duke stuff and make it out alive ... there great if urs are worn/gone
