This works perfect for those guys who have stranos where the rear sits lower than the front in some cases with aftermarket rear ends. I left the spring isolators in AND added the heater hose to the rear springs ans WALA perfect stance and no more hard bottoming out that caused damage to the stock panhard rod and cut a tire. I run 315s and lowered so I needed a bit more clearence and the heater hose was the perfect addition, also seemed to stop some squeeking since the spring sits firmer in the isolator now

Stayin up late, great sticky, question is, got my S60 today, want to retain stock SS ride, and ride height, if I hose mod the car I will be back to stock height...now if I have a set of drag rims and tires, at what size 27 or 28 will clearance become an issue? I have all the UMI under the car already , including the UMI shock relocation brackets.

From the dead.....

Has anyone done this with Strano springs? IIRC, those coils were of larger diameter than stock springs. I want to tackle this soon and wanted to see if the 5/8" or 3/4" hose was more appropriate versus the 1/2" hose.

I did the hose mod with my Strano's. I used a 1/2" hose. A perfect fit, although I recommend using something like WD-40 to get the hose on the coil

I have 5/8 on my Stranos (along with the isolator). Still too low...looks good, but rubs a bit.

I know this is an old topic (though recently resurrected) but im curious to see how this heater hose has held up on the springs and withstood the test of time?
I did suspension on my Z about 5 years ago and tossed my stock isolators and as you can imagine the car has a nice stance but sounds like a toolbox rolling down the street while im driving. So i looked around and found this mod yall are doing but I have to say im a little skeptical about the hose holding up after a while. Please let me know as im really considering this solution right now.

Thanks -- just what I needed to know. Still on stock springs and the front sits higher than the rear. Thinking I can slap the Stranos in to get the whole car down and then add hose to the rear Strano springs to get the rear bumped up a bit to level it out.

Bringing this one back to add a few more pictures and comparison photos between Eibach Pro and Stock (93-97) V6 rear springs.

This is the comparison shot of the two springs out of the car.Heater Hose Mod Writeup-eibach-pro-v6.jpg

Picture of the "Heater Hose Mod" 1/2" Heater Hose.

This is the after picture of the V6 spring. Measured a little over 27".

Here is the shot of the Eibach. It was very low and I didn't want to cut my tires at the track. Measured just over 26".

Over all I'm happy with the swap as far as looks go. The drivers side is 26 and 7/8ths. Passenger side is 27 and 1/4. I don't notice it from the back, but was wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

I would like to add a note that there exist regular "donut"
isolators which are no thicker than heater hose, fit our
springs perfectly and are "original equipment". I do not know
which vehicle(s) but I have a junkpile pair on my car and
they are perfect for the job. I suspect that GM was not
really trying to be creative, and a G-body or A-body, or
3rd gen F-body might be the ticket (being as these are
the kinds of vehicles that pass through the shop where
I scrounged them).

Does anyone know what the original ride height ( from ground to bottom of fender) of a 98' Firebird is? I have one with 105K mile son it I'm going to measure right now. I bought new moog springs and I'm wondering if that is going to raise what I'm working with now as the springs should be worn out as they are 16 years old

"and hose mod with removed rear isolators" I have to say that is one of the cleanest T/A I've ever seen.. How's the ride quality without the isolaters? Mine are fairly clapped out.. I just did a shock and spring swap in the back, thought it would help with some squeaks and creaking by using the hose mod.
