Default correct rear spring "pigtail" location?

Ok, I just put new SLP Eibachs and Bilsteins on my daily driver SS and noticed that the driver's side is sitting about 1/2-3/4 of of an inch higher when measured from the top of the tire to the fender lip. The car was even before install with stock parts.

So seeing as I paid no attention to what orientation the rear springs were installed, I searched on here and saw that the last coil of the spring where it touches the perch on the rear end needs to be the same on both sides.

Also I noticed that everyone states this "pigtail" should point forward, should point backwards, and/or to the left.

My question is which is it? What does GM or Eibach officially say?

It really doesn't matter as long as they are clocked the same.

Also, make sure the opposite end of the pigtail is seated in the upper rubber properly. It too has to be clocked to fully seat.

Yeah the tops were fully seated into the rubber isolaters. Do you get different levels of spring performance depending on the clocking? Meaning a certain setting lowers the car more vs. another raises?

Your drivers side doesnt have a 40lb spare tire and jack over it, pull the spare see if it changes at all...

No performance difference ... spring rate is spring rate.

Thumbs up

My 99 Camaro GM service manual says, it's important to make sure the end of the pigtails are pointed forward. It doesn't say why, only that it's important.

Pigtails pointing forward is correct.

Pig tails are now pointing forward and the fender gap difference between driver's side & passenger side is within 1/4 of an inch.

Thanks guys!

Another question, when I get around to installing the fronts do the front spring pig tails need to both be clocked the same and facing forward as well? Or does clocking on matter on the front?

The upper isolator and mount will determine where the spring is located.
