A little help for the newbie! (shocks)
Hello everyone! Great to be here...Ive heard lots of good things about this site/board. Anyhow, dont wanna get all mushy with everyone, so Ill get to my question. Well...my car is becoming more and more of a drag car and I wanted to start getting more serious with the suspension, particularly shocks. I dont want to change the ride height of the car, so Im guessing all I will need is shocks. I was wondering what shocks or shocks and spring combo do I need to run that will be very track oriented, yet driveable on the street. I personally have never owned or looked into drag shocks, so I have no knowledge in this field. So Ill try to make it as simple/short as I can...here it goes...I want a shock that will transfer the weight really well, but when Im driving the car around town, I can adjust them for street manners. I wasnt really looking into springs, but if you guys recommend them combo'd up with shocks, then I guess I can reconsider. Sorry so long, but I just wanted to be as specific as I could so it would be more clearer for you all and narrow my choices down. Thank you very much. By the way, like most performance parts...do drag shocks have a shorter life opposed to a stock shock? Lastly, wasnt sure if I needed fronts, front and rear, or rear only...whichever you all recommend. Thanks again!

I'm not a drag racer, but mang guys on the board have had pretty good luck with the HAL shocks (but most don't like HAL's springs). You may do a search for HAL or HAL shocks or something and see what you dig up. Or, repost a HAL question ("drag shock help" or something like that).
GOod luck!

Are the Hals my only option? Is there one particular series that I should consider, or are there lots of them out there that will work? As I was browsing through the performance suppliers/distributors on the side of the page, only 2 series came up. Are those the 2 most popular or the only 2 that work for Camaros? Thank you.

The HAL's seem to be one of the most popular options. As I remember, there are a few guys around that are running Lakewood or Competition Engineering (can't remember which) rear drag shocks. I think Koni does a set, but bring your Visa card. I'm not a drag racer, but I'm sure someone who is will drop in here with more info.
