Default New SS Vert owner needs help improving handling

Hi guys
I need some help improving the handling of my 1999 Camaro SS convertible. It is completly stock with 50k mi. I'm currently serving in the Army in beautiful Baghdad, Iraq. I'll be back home in a few months finshing out my 10 month tour here. I'm planning some mods to do to my car when I get back.
I want to lower the car about 1"-1.5" and keep a nice plush ride while stiffening up the chassis for better handling. This is not a drag car, it's my daily driver.
Please give me the brands you reccomend and any personal experience you guys have.

Thanks in advance

Jason
