Default Quick emergency brake question

On my 97 Camaro, I had to remove the rear brake lines recently. Everything is re-installed, but still needs to be bled. My question is, will the E-brake still work even though the rears need to be bled? I wouldn't think so, because there's air in the lines, but does the E-brake work mechanically, like they do on drum brakes, or does it need to be bled before it'll work?

if the 97's are like 98's and up bleeding the brakes shouldnt affect the ebrake, the ebrake is a drum brake style on my 01 ss.. idk if that helps
