Default Parking brake ruber boot ?

My 01' Camaro has both rubber boots that go on the back of the brake backing ripped. This is the rubber boot that the parking brake cable goes through, and has the P. brake arm inside it.

I went to the dealer and they only sell this rubber boot in a $260 (Kit) that includes the backing and shoes and all the other stuff I don't need.

Doesn't anybody make these?

Wrong boot.

He speaks of the boot on the backing plate that keeps dust dirt and grime outta the rear shoe/rotor assembly.

Im sure GM would have a part number.

I cut a small rectangle from the corner of a old fender cover, bolted it down with the oe plate cut a small slit in the rubber ind stick the lever threw it.
works great-real redneck, but a heck of alot better than spending 210.00, working for me for last five years, if you look under car you will guess that part is homemade

rmsautoparts sell them for $15 for a pair along with new bolts. I'd post a link but they are a non-sponsor

I got a set a couple years ago from them, as far as I know they are the only company selling them.

Y - We had a long series of threads on this a while ago. Some how, RMS is able to get them in as a special. (No one has been able to find any other company in the US who has them.) The brake mechanism is a patented design by an Australian company and the normally is only carried in the full kit.)

Anyone know where else to find these, OTHER than at RMS. Though their website is still up, the home page at RMS says they are no longer in business?

The E-brake lever seals were completely gone/deteriorated,made some seals from rubber sheet and cut a slit for the lever. Won't protect as good as the OEM seals, but keep the 'heavy' stuff out.

I recently needed a new ebrake hardware kit, so I ordered the ACDelco kit through rockauto for $150. The kit had everything, including... get this, two pairs of the boots! Not sure if that was a mistake, but I'll take it! The other pair is already spoken for, just saying... the ACDelco kit had two pair!

RMS is out of business. There are some individuals who have some and are selling, however their reputability is unknown and they will definitely gouge you on price.

I have two pairs I am willing to sell. Bought them from one of the guys selling these on another forum who got them from RMS. I had mine replaced free under extended warranty so ended up not needing them. PM me if interested.

We're going to lock this up like the other thread.

This boot has been discussed before in several threads. It is not an exact replacement and will tear: https://ls1tech.com/forums/suspensio...-push-rod.html

So far, the only durable solutions we have found are FirstYrLS1Z making a rubber plate out of a more durable material (above) or using an old stand-by; rubber nipples: https://ls1tech.com/forums/suspensio...xperiment.html
