Default Has anyone found a Driveshaft Loop that fits

I recently purchased a BMR DS loop and the design is horrible. If it isn't hittong on the exhaust pipe, it hits on the torque arm. We then modified it, heated it up and dented in the lower portion of the loop by the exhaust and the upper portion of the loop by the torque arm. Still the loop will rattle against the exhaust when the motor rocks or when the motor is under torque. We can not modify the loop any more than it is now, or the driveshaft will rub. The torque arm and Y pipe are both stock.

Has anyone had any success with any other products? I've seen the lakewood DS loop and i've been considering it. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

These loops seem to be a hit or miss item with the f-bodies, I can tell you the SLP loop doesn't work well with the stock y-pipe...so that's one you want to avoid.

Give the lakewood one a shot. PN 18022 on Jegs. Fit right in for me in 15 minutes without a problem. No dropping the shaft either.

Thanks for the feedback dudes. Does anyone have a picture of the Lakewood loop installed. The design looks pretty good, i wish i knew about this one before the bmr. The BMR is twice the price.

I had a Lakewood and had to pull my DS to get it in, but it fit. I removed it when the 3.5 inch lingenfelter DS went in and used an LG motorsports loop which also works just fine.

I use the SLP on my car. It worked with the stock ypipe, and Kooks ypipe, but not with the QTP ypipe. My friend had the BMR and it required a bit of modification to make it work.

I bought and use the Metco 2-piece driveshaft safety loop. When I first installed it, the torque arm would hit it when the car hit a bump. However, i just slid it over a little and the problem was gone. Never had a problem since. It loops over the torque arm and the driveshaft. Keep in mind that i have the stock y-pipe on with the 345 hp. package from SLP in my 2002 SS.

Now, i'm currently in the process of picking out a torque arm. At first, i was thinking of either the BMR or the LG Motorsports one. So, i sent Metco and email asking if an aftermarket TA will fit fine with the loop. They replied that it "should be o.k. We heard that the Random TA works best."

Take that for what its worth.

My BMR was fine until I was forced to run over a dead coyote on the freeway at 70 mph. I think it's skull bent the loop lol. Now it hits the Torque Arm under heavy acceleration.

It is hit or miss for sure. Neither the lakewood or slp fit on my car with the stock y. Now that I have LT headers the SLP fits. You will have a hard time getting one to fit with the stock y pipe.

Lakewood, a couple different 3.5" driveshafts and headers/exhausts and it always fit. Dont think it will work with the stock y-pipe though. Here is a pic.

I had a BMR and ir took some serious hacking to get it work, I'm still not sure sure what combination it would take to make that thing work without cutting and beating it.

I have G2 custom 2.5" Y-pipe with Flowmaster collector, Denny's MMC 3.5" driveshaft, and G2 TA - no problems with Lakewood DSL.

I had an old 2 piece BMR and it would not fit with a SLP y pipe. I then bought a SLP and it has worked with my stock y, SLP Y and now with my JETHOT LT's and Hooker Y

Had the same issues with BMR. I bought the overpriced LG piece, but at least it works and can be shimmed to fit.
