Default HELP with brake lines

So I replaced my front rotors, took the calipers off and painted them black replaced the brake pads put it all back together just fine. HOWEVER when I got in to take it for a test spin my brakes are "spongy" or they go all the way down and slowly come back up. Now when I took the calipers off I just C-clamped the lines off. And please dont tell me that I shouldnt have done that cause Im aware thats the lazy way. But I dont know how to fix this, do I need to bleed the brakes? Or what? Please help I would like to get this project finished ASAP

Since the calipers were off the car, yes, you must bleed the brakes. Did you use new banjo bolt washers?

Get some stainless steel braided brake lines -- you will love the improved feel & bleed the brakes to get the air out.

please don't tell me you removed the calipers and didn't bleed the brakes? If you did, bleed them...at this point you might as well do a flush/bleed with all new fluid.
