Tunnel Mounted Torque Arm on the Street? Bad Idea? I just put mine on today from Umi and already bottomed out on it. Wow this thing sits low. It could of been made to allow more room for ground clearance. I guess it doesn't help that im lowered. |
I have a spohn tunnel mount. Other than not being able to cross speed bumps, I have no clearance issues.. |
Did you put ur y-pipe on before puttin the cross member/dsl on? I just put mine in on Friday, my car is lowered 2 inches and I haven't scraped i don't think at least! Vince |
Pics??? Which torque arm was it? I have one coming that is for 'stock exhaust' and kooks ypipes so I think it gives more ground clearance which is a good thing. |
This is the one I ordered and have installed. Its for long tube header set ups. http://www.umiperformance.com/catalo...roducts_id=212 |
In the pictures in the link you sent it looks like the y-pipe on the drivers side sticks down lower than the tunnel brace mount point. Are you bottoming out on the brace? Is your y-pipe tucked up further than in those pics? I also have pacesetter LT's and ORY and a magnaflow catback, so I'd be really interested in the issues you're having before I purchase the same torque arm. Keep us posted. |
I'm bottoming out on the brace it self. |
I have the same one and never once bottomed out. stock suspension though. How much lower are you compared to stock? |
I'm on Strano springs, which I believe the most they drop you is 1.25 inches. It just seems that the right side of the cross member bracket for the torque arm could of been made to tuck up a little bit more the passenger side. It still has inches before it will come in contact with the y pipe. |
I just cut mine and welded it back straight across and it hasnt scraped since |
See if you can't have UMI send you the cross brace for use with the Kooks y-pipe. I is a straight peice which should give you some more ground clearance. I just got my torque arm installed last night but haven't driven it yet. I need to pick up my angle gauge so I can adjust it properly. |
