Default Are SS braided brake lines worth it?

I'm in the process of redoing a lot of my brake system (calipers, rotors, pads). I'm replacing the calipers, not because of wear and tear, but because I'm removing the calipers I ground down for Pro Stars. Since I have to bleed the system for this, I'm thinking now is the time to get stainless steel braided lines. I wouldn't necessarily be doing this for improved brake feel, but just to replace the factory lines which are almost 13 years old now.

So my question is two parts:

1. Do the factory lines really get worn, i.e. need to be replaced after a certain amount of time?
2. Are SS braided lines worth it in this case?

I didn't really notice a different when I went to SS brake lines but I didn't expect to either. I was already doing a complete brake job, had some money to spend, and said "why not". Sometimes I buy stuff to keep me busy.

The increased pedal "firmness" typically comes from the fluid flush and not necessarily the line change.

But, there is never anything wrong with changing parts for newer and arguably better.
