Default Panhard bar design question

I am building my own mild steel panhard bar.

I decided that the 1.25 x .120 designs were for road race and hard street driving more than anything and decided I would run 1/2 inch by 5/8 inch heim joints with tube adapters and 1" x .065 tubing to save on a probably insignificant amount of weight.

Looking at the tubing itself seems like it would be plenty sturdy in short lengths and most driveshafts arent much more heavy duty at .085" wall thickness.

Does anyone think I will have a problem with the thin wall tubing. Please take into consideration that this is a family hot rod and sees no heavy turning at all. Its strictly a drag car when being raced at all and I dont think there is a lot of force on the panhard bar on the launch.

Open to all opinions and thanks in advance.

Yeah I didnt think about aluminum ones at all. I imagine that autocross cars and cars of that nature are probably the ones who need a large caliber panhard bar. I think as long as I dont find my way into a wall or something I will be ok.

Although 1"x.065" is fairly light duty, if it is strictly a drag car you'll probably be alright. If I had my preference and was building a PHR from 1" diameter tubing I would use .095" with mild steel and .065" with 4130.

Cool thank you. I am actually almost done with it now. Just got to finish making the adjuster nut and then weld everything together.

Figure ill take the car to a parking lot or something and throw it a round a bit and see what happens.

Raymond yours is next if all goes well. I have about 30 dollars tief up in it.
