Best street/strip spring/shock setup?
2000 camaro. A4. Cam, stall, exhaust, bolt-ons. The car will be driven a lot and raced very frequently. Looking to lower it but want it to ride well, handle well, and perform well at the track. What spring/shock setup do i need or is coil overs recommended?
I have always had mustangs. This is new to me. The car has a 12 bolt if it matters and does not have true duals. I will run a 275-50-15 at the track on a 15x10 racestar wheel. Street will probably be. 17 inch front, 18 inch rear setup with 295-35-18? Or may stick with 17s and 315-35's.
Thanks

check out strano performance ^ , yes they are adjustable , they come in 2 models , 4/4 with the on car adjustable shocks all around , and 4/3 with the rears only adjustable off the car .. you can also lower your car a tad with the konis and use your stock springs ..

are the afcos and strange shocks a coil-over setup?
All my mustangs that have had tubular k-members and coil-over setups squeaked and made all kinds of noise.
if this is a coil-over setup, am I going to have to deal with that?

Afco offers direct bolt in shocks for the f-body. They bolt in the stock location and You can keep the stock springs in the stock location if You like.
They can be used as a coil over by purchasing the coil over hardware for about $40.00 and the springs for under $100.00.
Strange offers direct bolt in shocks for the stock location, they are a smooth body shock which would be difficult to convert to a coil over.
Niether brand will have any noises.

thanks carl, i will give you a call when I am ready to order.
What do you suggest for me? A coil-over setup? Or regular bolt-in shocks and lowering springs?
I only want about the normal 1.25" drop

The coil over set up is preferred for the ultimate results from Your Afco's. However the bolt in Afco shocks with good stock location springs will still provide excellent results. Before ordering the part #'s listed above We should look into the correct length shock for lowering.

Just be aware that Afco's are not a "handling" oriented shock, though they seem to work great at the strip. Just be aware that you can't have everything:
Strip: Afco > Koni
Handling: Koni > Afco (usually what's best for handling is also what's best for street also, though it depends on your driving style and what you want from the car).
On a side note, if you do decide to go with Koni's, I'd recommend either 3rd gen rears or DA rears to help with the extra weight of your rear.

I'm curious about this. You don't think that with the afco's, there are settings that will perform well on the street? I'm debating between these two shocks now, still on the fence. But I've had qa1 single adjustable for years, so any improvement over them is great. I understand that the valving is different, but is it that much different. What is your opinion of the koni's at the drag strip?

FWIW there are people cutting 1.5 60fts on konis.
