Q on OEM Clips & Stainless Steel Brake Lines
 

I found that the OEM clips do not fit right with all aftermarket Stainless Steel Brake Lines, such as Goodridge. Question is, what purpose do these clips really serve, if any at all? TIA

They keep the brake lines on the body side from moving around and geting jacked up.. The goodridge lines come with new clips... Or you can do what I did which was safety wire them to the brackets.. You just want them to not be able to move around. However you effectively and safely accomplish that is up to you.

^ The Goodridge supplied parts did not fit, and I have not yet addressed this shortcoming. What sort of problems could I have because of this? Would appreciate seeing pictures of what you did...


See the PDF of what Goodridge Technical Support sent me when I complained that they did not supply the correct parts, along with comments. I think they should provide all that is needed with the lines. They said nobody had phoned them to complain about this issue, unbelievably:

"This is a kwik diagram of the way my road racer friend clamp his lines on his race car .. I talked to him a couple of dats after he had a track day he said this set-up worked great. Ye he told me it would be nice to have the right clip grooves in the lines but because we can not do it he says this works great .. I believe this will work perfect for what you need .."

I used safety wire to secure mine.. Ill try to get photos for you later today.

Here ya go.. If you want to do it my way, you will need some stainless safety wire and a set of safety wire pliers.. Harbor Freight has them CHEAP and they work fairly well.

Simple, but effective. I like it.

I just experienced this but only on the rear coming off the main hardline....that bracket had so much rust build up on it....I'm just gonna take my dremel and try grinding it down just a lil to see if I can get the clips to catch enough to tap them in

Thanks for the pics, a bit of a hack, but gets the job done. ;)
