Question car feels unstable going faster at freeway speeds-bad struts?

current suspension history is somewhat unknown. heres what I can tell though:
chassis has 150k miles
recently passed state inspection
front sway bar removed
front ball joints replaced prior to inspection
275/45/17 tires all around. front has about 3/32nds and rears 2/32nds
founders rear LCA and panhard bar

at speeds above 85mph I feel the car, moreso the front end weaving or bobbing left and right consistently. what could be causing this? steering control isn't bad but the bobbing makes me feel uncomfortable at high speeds and eventually when I return to the dragstrip. don't want to lose control and spin out above 100mph towards the end of the track.

what’s jumped out at me right away - put the front sway bar back on. You would only remove or disconnect it on a drag strip. It is very much needed every where else

gotcha. that would make sense. I removed it a couple months ago and IIRC haven't been driving the car much especially on freeway due to the shitton of rain we've been getting in the PA state. just wasn't certain if it was due to worn struts or the front sway bar. also wasn't certain if it was the front sway bar because I had a 98 firebird which also had the front sway bar removed and I don't recall having the (front) bobbing left and right?

Yes,front sway bar.
3/32" and 2/32" left on the tires doesn't leave much of the original thread blocks left to be able to squirm/conform to road surface anomalies.

would the stability be 'controlled' if using a stiffer strut like the koni srt.r from strano on stock spring?

when I had it inspected back this past may. the rear tires were just above 3/32nd back then and the fronts were 3.5-ish so both were passable

As stated above by others the culprit is that you removed the front sway bar assy.

I saw on here a while back that somebody else was having similar problem. After rebuilding a lot of the steering and suspension, he found the plastic bearing that keeps the steering shaft aligned on the firewall was worn out. He replaced it with an actual bearing from like an old nova or something and it fixed his issue. Maybe something to look at....

It's a ticky tack thing, but no he's 100% correct. The knuckles on the front are located by upper and lower control arms, not a struts. People get them confused on the 4th gen because the coil over shock has the look of a macpherson strut.

it's a topic that's beat on at length.

And lees02ws6 is 100% correct in saying that wannafbody is 100% correct.

It scares me how many folks who give advice, and that folks seemingly listen too, don't know the difference in the two. But it is 2018, I shouldn't be so surprised.

I don't know how many times I get grief over on F body Facebook groups from people who like to argue that the 4th gens have struts.
