Don't trust all automotive shops, in my old '95 Camaro, the same thing happened, and I am certain they didn't install that dogbone shaped part either. There are a lot of incompetent mechanics -- you have to know what they know and more to ensure they are doing a job right half of the time.
Another thing, if you have the GM Shock Mount, BE SURE TO GET THE GM DOGBONE, as the other ones from other vendors are NOT the right size and are smaller -- the on eNAPA sells does NOT fit right in the GM mount, for instance -- it is smaller. Ask me how I know.

Just a heads up be damn careful pulling that spring out, the strut's not holding it compressed anymore, so use those spring compressers..... coil springs under pressure are no bullshit
